William Riley "Billy" Poff was buried at Head of the River Cemetery (also known as Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery), Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.9,7,8,10 He William Riley Poff, 83, was discovered dead on a plantation road near his home, late Sunday afternoon Nov. 4th. According to Mrs. Mona Coates, a daughter, he left home about 3 p.m. to visit some traps he had set. Becoming anxious over his long absence, neighbors and friends began a search, finding him lying in the middle of the plantation road. Sherriff Ora Williams and Deputy W. M. Phillips visited the scene. The body was brought here and examined by Dr. F. C. Bedsaul, who said it was apparent he had died from a heart ailment. Surviving are three daughters and one son. Mrs. C. M. Coates, Mrs. L. A. Holland, Mrs. Joseph Nichols, Copper Hill; Lemuel I. Poff, New Jersey, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Head of the River church followed by interment in church cemetery.8 He was born on March 8, 1862 at Floyd Co., Virginia.9,1,7,10 He married Virginia Ann "Jennie" Carr, daughter of John William Carr and Julina A. Noah Dickerson "Dick" Conner was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 3410 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.6,5 He was born on August 28, 1883 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,2,3,11,4,6 He married Hattie Margie "Mattie" Kingrea, daughter of William Washington Kingrea and Octavia Vanna Brown, on February 26, 1905 at Floyd Co., Virginia.2,12,1,3,13 Noah Dickerson "Dick" Conner died on May 10, 1961 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 77.2,7,3,5,6 He Noah Dickerson Conner, 77, of McComas, died Wednesday morning at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hattie M. Conner, who died in 1959. He was born in Floyd County, Va., the son of the late John and Sally Eddings Conner, and was a retired coal miner. Survivors include a son, William Conner of McComas; five daughters, Miss Elsie Conner of McComas, Mrs. William Cline of Bluefield, Mrs. Ernest Mathena of Princeton, Mrs. Kent Stevenson of Tazwell, Va., and Mrs. Wayne Conner in Connecticut; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Kingrea of Rt. 3, Bluefield, Nannie and Rose Conner of Christiansburg, Va; five brothers, Tom and Doc Conner of Maple Acres, and Jim, Walter and Troy Conner of Floyd County; 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in Woodland cemetery. on May 11, 1961.5
