Charlene is survived by 3 grandchildren, Thomas and Sarah Richardson, both of Williamsburg and Kaleigh Halvorson of Newport News; Sister, Mary Lou of Ravenswood, WVa; sister-in-laws Mary Dodd (Louis), of Clifton Forge, VA, and Ethel Rooper (Quinton) of Hurricaine, WVa. Numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and one special nephew, Michael Duffie (Patricia) of Charleston, WVa. The family would like to thank, Linda Walston for her loving care she gave to mom during her final weeks. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 4 PM to 6 PM at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. on March 14, 2019.4

He will be remembered always as a loving husband, father, PaPa, and loyal Mountaineer fan. Being drafted into the U.S. Army while attending Montgomery High School, Montgomery, WV, he earned his GED in later years. He served six years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the last three in Germany, and received the World War II Victory medal, the Army OCC medal, and the Good Conduct medal. In 1953, he began working in the parts department at Rish Equipment, Charleston/St. Albans, WV. He retired as their Parts Manager in 1998 with 45 years of service. He was a member of Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church in Hurricane and The American Legion in Milton. He was preceded in death by his father, William Sheridan Alexander; his mother, Elizabeth Kathryn (Lipford) Alexander Lambert Nesselroad; 1 sister, Betty Lee Martin. Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Anne(Crews)Alexander, Charleston; daughter, Leigh Anne Alexander Strahler (Francis), New Albany, OH; son, William Brian Alexander (Kristin Talarico), grandchildren, Olivia, Oscar, and Madelin Alexander, New Philadelphia, OH. His survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Debbie; the lights of his life, his son, United States Army Captain, Dr. Troy Akers and his wife, Nancy, of Savannah, Ga; daughter, Amber Akers, of Christiansburg, Va; his little princess, granddaughter, Mollie Akers, of Savannah, Ga; his mother, Stella Akers, of Christiansburg, Va; brothers, Doyle Akers (Linda), of Lady Lake, Fla., and Mark Akers (Margie), of Christiansburg, Va; mother-in-law, Jean Trump, of Christiansburg, Va; brother and sisters-in-law, Eddie Trump (Paulette), of Christiansburg, Va., Kathy Harvey, of Blue Ridge, Va., Shelby Main (Donald), of Christiansburg, and Jerry Trump (Sue), of Christiansburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the Carilion NRVMC CCU nursing staff for their exceptional care. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 21, 2010, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by Pastor Neal Turner and Mr. Mitch Semones. Interment in Sunset Cemetery will be private. Flowers will be accepted however the family sincerely requests memorials be made to Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship, 3325 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073 or to Christiansburg Church of the Brethren, 310 S. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
