Conner and Katherine Conner Cook (Ed); three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Caroline and Anna Cook; two brothers, Thomas L. Conner of Kentucky and Franklin K. Conner of California; a brother-in-law, James R. Slate Sr. (Liz); and a sister-in-law, Martha S. Thornhill, all of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the home of Katherine & Ed Cook. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers at Bon Secours Hospice, and, in lieu of flowers, requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Bon Secours Hospice Fund, 8580 Magellan Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23227. on November 13, 2008.2

She is survived by her son, Michael and wife, Sophia Thompson; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Justin Ryals and two beautiful grandchildren, Morgan Thompson and Addison Ryals. Also surviving are her brothers, Thomas and wife, Reva Stanley, Don Jamison, Joe and wife, Carroll Jamison and Tim and wife, Robin Jamison; sisters, Reba and husband, Fred Campbell and Rita and husband, Ron Martin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She had many special friends who she enjoyed spending time with and going on shopping trips to Lynchburg and Myrtle Beach. Janet retired from Anthem after 20 years of service. She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and enjoyed helping at the Relay For Life every year. She was a 10 year survivor of breast cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald house in Roanoke, or the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford. Special thanks to the staff at South Roanoke Nursing Home and the staff at Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their wonderful care during this difficult time. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by Dr. J. Michael Palmer. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday in Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Callaway, Va. At her request, she is being laid to rest alongside her father. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010, at Simpson Funeral Home, 366-0707. on April 21, 2010.1

Whitlock, daughter of George Fred Whitlock and Della Clorie Lawrence, on October 7, 1936 at Floyd Co., Virginia.2,1,3,8 Posey Herbert Conner died on June 27, 1959 at Pulaski, Pulaski Co., Virginia, at age 44.3 He Posey Hubert Conner, 44, owner of Conners Restaurant, died suddenly Saturday evening at Pulaski Hospital. His death was unexpected. Conner had been confined to the hospital for the past 15 days, recuperating from a broken leg. There was no official explanation as to the cause, however, it is possible that a blood clot, caused by the broken leg, might have brought on the death. It was reported that just prior to the time of passing, Conner was in good spirits and in apparent good health. Born in Floyd County, the son of the late Wilmeth Jane Martin and George Ben Conner, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Whitlock Conner, two daughters, Mrs. Maynard Sutphin, Roanoke, Barbara Jean Conner, Pulaski, one foster son, Harvey Newton Bowles, Cleveland, Ohio. Six brothers, Willard Conner, Buchanan; Ernest Conner, Roanoke; Clarence Conner Radford; Carl Conner, Radford; Claude Conner, Check, Va; Guy Conner, Check, Va; four sisters Mrs. Lonza Walton, Check, Va, Mrs Elliot Craighead, Fincastle, Mrs. Edward Stanley, Roanoke, Mrs. Annie Conner, Check, Va. The body is at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, pending funeral arrangements. on June 28, 1959.3
