James S. Quesenberry, 44, and Tina Hill Quesenberry, 33, of Carroll County were shot in the head about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday while they sat in a parked car at an apartment complex, authorities said. Their 6-year-old child was in the car but was not harmed, Hillsville Police Chief Kenneth H. Sharp Jr. said. Dennis Earl Stoneman, 43, was arrested near his home in Surry County, N.C., early Wednesday and was being held in jail there pending extradition proceedings, said Glen Nester, chief deputy sheriff in Carroll County. Sharp said Stoneman was arguing with the couple and looking for his wife, Theresa Stoneman. The Quesenberrys were helping her move into the apartment complex, authorities said. Sharp said that Patrolman Leonard Howell found the bodies while on his way to the apartment building to investigate suspected gunshots. While Howell was on his way, the 911 dispatch office received information that there were two gunshot victims in the apartment parking lot. James Quesenberry was a former owner of the Sports Stop in Pulaski County, where he grew up and was active in recreation sports and other community events. Pulaski YMCA Director Jack Leahy recalled that Quesenberry worked as a YMCA program director and always was willing to help with youth basketball. "He was just a nice fellow," Leahy said. on May 18, 1995.9 She QUESENBERRY, Tina H., 33, of Penny Lane, Sylvatus, Va., (Carroll County), died Tuesday night, May 16, 1995, in the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Va. She was born May 1, 1962. She was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Dugspur, Va., and she was an employee of the Wheatland Hills Retirement Home, Hillsville, as their Assistant Director. Surviving are her parents, Joseph H. and Neta B. Hill , Hillsville; son, Ross E. Payne, Hillsville; stepgrandchildren, Sarah Q. Wagner, Mississippi, Mark S. Quesenberry, Fairlawn , Brian M. Quesenberry, Dublin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Roger Harris, Floyd, Teresa Stoneman, Hillsville, and Nancy and Roger Beasley, Hillsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Audrey Hill , Houston, Texas, Neil and Margaret Sowers, Roanoke, Steve and Susie Sowers, Hillsville, Junior and Katherine Sowers, Floyd, and Jimmy Hill , Hillsville. Funeral service will be held Saturday 3 p.m. from the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Dugspur, Va., with the Rev. Allen Thompson officiating. Lois Jeanette Moran died on February 11, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 90.2 She Lois Jeanette Moran Collins, 90, of Roanoke went peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Thursday, February 11, 2021. She was a daughter of the late James Dewey Moran and Hazel Holland Moran. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley A. Collins; a brother Russell Moran; son-in-law, Mike Dooley. Surviving her are her children Wanda Dooley, John Collins and Jennifer Bobbitt (Eddie); brother, Ralph Moran (Shelby); grandchildren, Kenny Dooley (Linden), Chris Bobbitt (Mikala) and Kaitlyn Bobbitt; great-grandchildren, MaKinley, Mason and Caleb Bobbitt, Wyatt Dooley; special friends, Wanda Ross and Mildred Holland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Lois's life will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, Roanoke with Pastor Mark Mofield officiating burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on February 16, 2021.2

(Mike) Dooley, 60, of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his father, T. Wayne Dooley, father-in-law, Wesley Collins and a special friend, Don Luther. Mike was an employee of Double Envelope for 35 years. He was an avid bowler at Hilltop Lanes. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Wanda C. Dooley; son, Kenneth (Kenny) Dooley and wife Linden, USAF, Nebraska; mother, Geneva Bower; brother, Steve Dooley and wife Paula; stepmother, Ann Dooley; nephew, Chris Bobbitt; nieces, Kaitlyn Bobbitt and Trinity Dooley; mother-in-law, Lois Collins; sister-in-law, Jennifer Bobbitt and husband Eddie; brother-in-law, John Collins; devoted cat, Samone; special friend, Lorraine Luther and her pet Bear Bear; and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Tim Wright. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 26, 2014.5

Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred K. Starkey and a son, Mark Starkey. He is survived by his son, Wesley E. (Wes) Starkey and his wife, Joan, of Floyd; his granddaughter, Mary Beth Starkey, of Blacksburg, Va. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Skyline Nursing and Rehab for their faithful care and kindness shown to their loved one. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, in Floyd, with speakers Hosea Blankenship and Dewayne Troutt officiating. Interment will follow at Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery, in Indian Valley, Va. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements. on November 24, 2008.3
