Perry Washington Poff was buried at Monte Vista Park Cemetery, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.4 He was born on February 25, 1854 at Huffville, Floyd Co., Virginia.2,4 He married Nellie L. Mullins, daughter of James Mullins, on November 25, 1891 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.1,4,5 Perry Washington Poff died on January 2, 1934 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 79.1,2,4 He P. W. Poff, 80, pioneer photographer, died at 5:10 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 205 Tazewell street, following an illness since last September due to asthma. Although members of his family had understood the seriousness of his condition, friends and acquaintances of Mr. Poff were shocked at the news of his passing. Mr. Poff retired from active business about a year ago after spending forty years in the photography business. Virtually his entire business career was spent in Bluefield during which time he operated the Poff studios. Through it all, Mr. Poff carried on in the manner of the true craftsman. His business itself was virtually revolutionized with new methods, new ideas. He never lost step with the times. Mr. Poff was born at Huffville, Floyd county, Virginia, February 25, 1854. He was a son of Lewis L. and Nancy (Epperly) Poff. His father served the Confederacy In the war between the states, and died during that conflict. While still very young Mr. Poff asserted his interest in photography by going to Christiansburg for an apprenticeship under the late Hank Jewell. He came to the coalfields in 1886, opening the first studio at Pocahontas, Va. In quest of a growing and lucrative field, he moved to this city in 1898. Two generations flitted before the unfailing eye of his camera. Hundreds of attic trunks and parlor albums today guard the lifelike handiwork of Mr. Poff's early efforts. He became a member of the Methodist church while still in Pocahontas, joining during the pastorship of the late Rev. E. A. Tilley, and became a member of the board of stewards. Upon coming to Biuefield, he transferred his membership to Grace Methodist church, Mr. Poff became a trustee of that church and held the position until his death. Funeral services will be conducted at the Tazewell street home this afternoon at 2:30, with Dr. Thomas S. Hamilton, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. E. H. Cassidy, pastor of Grace church, and the Rev. Jennings W. Hobson, rector of Christ Episcopal church, Interment will be in Monte Vista park. Mr. Poff Is survived by his widow, the former Miss Nellie Mullens, of Pearisburg, whom he married November 25, 1891, and the following children; Mrs. R. E. Maxwell, Miss Dorthea Poff and Lewis M. Poff, all of Bluefield. He also leaves two brothers, Taylor Poff, of Hatcher, W. Va., and Henry Poff, Huffville. One child preceded him to the grave. Active pallbearers: H. W. Garber, R. E. Lazenby, S. J. Sublette, O. J. Caldwell, G. W. Fowler, Philip Lilly, Harry Charlton Jr., Joe Rhodes, W. S. Phelps, John F. Nash, B. H. Hancock. T. R. Fox, Fred M. Hawley, F. W. Udy and J. F.
