In addition to her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Stanley she will be missed and remembered by her son, Edward Stanley (John Angle); daughter, Jeanette Brewer; brother, Leroy Walker; two grandchildren, Erin Tigges (Shawn), Nathan Brewer (Laura) and two great-grandchildren, Jared and Sophia. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in the Hollins Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Washington officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. A private burial for the family will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Va. on January 19, 2021.3

Maynard was born January 14, 1937, in Pulaski County, the son of the late Edith Sirt Sutphin and Tazwell Ellett Sutphin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Emory, Vernon, Everett, and Phillip Sutphin; and sister, Mildred Sutphin Spencer Blankenship. He is survived by his wife, Glenna Conner Sutphin; son, Steven Sutphin and daughter-in-law, Caroline of Louisville, Ky; daughter, Tamara Sutphin of Pulaski, Va; sister, Betty and brother-in-law, Willis Wagner of Kingsport, Tenn; sister-in-law, Barbara Witt of Alabama; many members of his extended family; favorite puppy, Max and Orange the Cat. The family would like to thank Bill McMillan for his many kindnesses and assistance during Maynard's long illness. Maynard served in the United States Navy. He was very proud of his service to our country and always enjoyed talking about his travels and experience in the military. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Reverend Judy Yonce officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be scheduled at a later date at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center for their kind and excellent care. Burial will be at the Southwest Virginia Veterans' Cemetery, Dublin, Va. on September 13, 2018.1

Peggy Wilson Hall's gusto for life was contagious during her battle with cancer. With optimism towards the future she moved to Texas to be with her daughter and son-in-law. Peggy had a zest for life that included her love for travel. She traveled much of the world with her husband Bud; her travels included a childhood dream to see Switzerland, and homes in France and Japan. During the last year of her life she fulfilled her lifelong dreams: Peggy was able to dance at her granddaughters wedding in Sonoma, California and just a few weeks prior to her death she spent her final hoorah in Las Vegas. Visitation with family and friends will be held at: Edwards Funeral Home in Ft. Smith AR on Thursday, July 5th from 3pm-7:30pm. Graveside services will be held at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, AR on Friday, July 6th at 10am where she will rest with her husband Bud. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, AR. Peggy is survived by her daughter Margie Hill and husband Terry of Frisco, TX and her granddaughter Jessica Pierce and husband Ty of Fort Worth TX, stepdaughter Norma Burleson and husband Wayne, step grandson Brian Hopkins all of North Carolina, a brother Bob Wilson and wife Ruth of Roland, OK, sisters; Glenda Rowland, Judy Wilson and husband Joe of Roland, OK, Mary Hamilton and husband Bill of Ft. Smith, AR. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host loving friends. She is survived by two sons, Paul and Ben Helmandollar; a daughter, Jeanne Holzmann; two granddaughters, Chloe and Chinah Helmandollar, all in the Roanoke area; and a brother, John Lawrence, of Bluefield, W.Va. Funeral Services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. James S. Angle. Interment will follow in Wilson Family Cemetery, Floyd County. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home, 540-366-0707. on March 9, 2011.5

Curtis was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke.      Albert Roland Gibson was buried at Wilson Cemetery, Daniel's Run Road (Rt. 661), Locust Grove, Floyd Co., Virginia.6 He was born on March 6, 1929 at Crumpler, McDowell Co., West Virginia.5,6 He married Jean Elizabeth Lawrence, daughter of Abraham John "Abe" Lawrence Sr. and Ethel Mae Vest, on June 4, 1949 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.1,2,7,8,3,4,6 Albert Roland Gibson died on June 5, 2016 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 87.6 He Albert Roland Gibson, 87, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016. He was a man who loved Jesus and had concerns for other people. He has finished this portion of his spiritual life and is now in paradise safe in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Albert is survived by his wife, Victoria Elizabeth Owen Gibson; his son, Mark Lawrence Gibson, (Denver); his beloved sister, Ann and brother-in-law, Douglas Bailey (Roanoke); his brother, Thomas Gibson (Norfolk); Victoria's two sons and families, Todd and Rebecca Weaver, Tedd and Inger Weaver, their children, Jesse and Tori; Mark's two daughters, Tanya and Olga and their children Olivia, Maxwell and Isabella. Albert was born to Maudie Bell Cable Gibson and George Gose Gibson of Crumpler, W.Va., on March 6, 1929. Albert was the eighth of eleven children. He married Jean Elizabeth Lawrence of McComas, W.Va. on June 4, 1949, who was the daughter of Abe and Mae Lawrence of McComas. The couple resided in McComas, W.Va. moving to Littleton, Colo. in 1958. This union had one son Mark, born in Littleton Colo., where Albert called home for many years. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; and siblings, Gaines, Avron, Dale, George Jr., Helen, Randolph and Sara Jane. Albert graduated Northfork High School 1947, married Jean and was drafted into the Army in 1951. Albert served as a member of the Army Signal Corps attached to the 7th Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable military service, he attended Indiana Technology Collage receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics. Albert joined The Martin Company, Denver Division following graduation where he worked on design of the Titan I Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Spending most of his working life with this company he saw it change to Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin. His assignments took him to Cape Canaveral, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and numerous other NASA and Air Force facilities. Albert retired manager of Ground Systems Electrical Checkout & Launch Control for the Peacekeeper ICBM, Small Missile and Titan four missile programs. Albert continued to live in Foxfield Colorado, a town he helped to create, becoming Foxfield's first mayor until moving to Roanoke in 1999. Albert was a faithful Christian and a member of both Arapahoe Road Baptist Church of Littleton, Colo. and Bonsack Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va. A funeral for Albert will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Bonsack Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Moore III officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service with interment following the service at Wilson Cemetery in Check, VA at 2 p.m. on June 7, 2016.6
