     Willie Ray "Bill" Atkinson married Lorraine Hazel Chumbley, daughter of Charles Richard "Charlie" Chumbley and Ina Marie Conner.1,2,5 Willie Ray "Bill" Atkinson Willie Ray Atkinson, 93, of Hopewell passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014. Born in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Laurie Percy and Ollie Williams Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel “Lorraine” Atkinson; sons, Barry and Richard Atkinson; three sisters; one brother; nephew, Jerry Moses; and special friend, Thelma Duda. Mr. Atkinson retired from Allied Chemical after 20 plus years of service. He served our country proudly in the U. S. Navy and U. S. Maritime Service during WWII. Willie was a longtime member of Church of Nazarene in Hopewell, Virginia. He is survived by his grandson, Alan Ray Atkinson; nephew, Buddy Saunders; nieces, Ginger Austin, Arleen Faulkner, and Dottie Drake. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at John Randolph Medical Center of the great care shown to Willie.4 He was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 West Hundred Road, Chester, Chesterfield Co., Virginia.3,4 He was born on November 25, 1920 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,4 He died on January 27, 2014 at Virginia at age 93.3,4

Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008, with the Rev. Bud Nichols and Tom Sullivan officiating.
