Shelby was preceded by her husband of 63 years, Fred R. Mowles; her parents Brinton and Vivian (Pat) Conner; and her son Douglas W. Mowles. Shelby is survived by her children, David L. Mowles and wife, Linda, Donald R. Mowles and wife, Cathy, and Dannette M. Reedy and husband, Timothy; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in which she cherished and loved deeply.      Fredrick Ray "Fred" Mowles Fred R. Mowles, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017. Fred was an avid golfer, an employee at Utility Line Equipment, and a long time crew chief for a local race team. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Aldine Mowles; brothers Robert, Samuel, and Curtis Mowles, and son Douglas W. Mowles. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Shelby Mowles; children, David L. Mowles and wife Linda, Donald R. Mowles and wife Cathy, and Dannette Reedy and husband Timothy; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel. A service will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Horace Light officiating. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Vivian Pat "Granny" Conner. Surviving are his wife, Karen Akers Mowles; children, Daniel B. Mowles and wife Pinar of New York, New York; Douglas Andrew Mowles, Amanda Elizabeth Mowles both of Roanoke; Megan Nicole Rock of Salem; grandchild, James Gunner Ruscigno; father and mother, Fred and Shelby Mowles of Roanoke; brothers, David L. Mowles and wife Linda of Star, Arkansas; Donald R. (Don) Mowles and wife Cathy of Salem; sister, Dannette M. Reedy and husband Tim of Roanoke; and numerous aunts uncles nieces and nephews.      James Wesley "Buck" Conner was buried at Restvale Cemetery, 7529 Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.^8,10 He was born on July 9, 1937 at Roanoke, Virginia.^5,6 He married Judy Ann Brown on August 14, 1964 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.^1,3,11,5,8 James Wesley "Buck" Conner died on October 24, 2022 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 85.⁸ He James W. Conner, 85, of Roanoke, Virginia, died at home peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 24, 2022, after a long battle with emphysema. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and most of all, a dedicated Christian. He was the son of Emeritte and Iris Conner. He and his father owned and ran a wholesale tomato business, farmed raising cattle, and growing apples for many years. He was a charter member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church where he especially enjoyed the Men's Sunday School Class. Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Judy Brown Conner; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Shannon Conner and Todd and Tonya Conner; grandchildren, Caroline, Peyton, Barrett, and Hannah-Kate Conner; sister, Gladys King; and special mother-in-law, Madaline Brown. He received outstanding medical care by Affinity Care of Roanoke during his last four days and excellent care by his doctors, Dr. David Cummings and staff and Dr. Robert Keeley and staff. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery in Copper Hill, Va. on October 27, 2022.⁸

     Geneva Jane Wimmer was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. W., Roanoke, Virginia.⁵ She Mrs. Geneva Wimmer Sink, age 63, of Rt, 1, Elliston, died Friday in a Roanoke hospital. She is survived by her husband, Alfred L. Sink; three brothers, Marvin H. Wimmer of Pilot; Samuel H. Wimmer of Shawsville; Gene F. Wimmer of Elliston; one sister, Mrs. Roxie W. Edwards of Shawsville. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Hancock officiating. Internment will be in Cedar Lawn Burial Park.⁵ Her Social Security Number was 226-01-5633.⁶ She was born on January 24, 1918 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^6,3 As of May 19, 1951,her married name was Sink.³ She married Alfred Lee Sink on May 19, 1951 at Roanoke, Virginia.^5,1,3 Geneva Jane Wimmer died in August, 1981 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 63.^6,5

Ernest Wilton Conner was buried at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Phoenix, Maricopa Co., Arizona.⁴ His Social Security Number was 232-48-4504.³ He was born on May 25, 1882 at Floyd Co., Virginia; The SSDI has a birth date of May 15, 1882.^7,9,3,5,6 He married Addnia Jane "Addie" Foley on August 10, 1904 at McDowell Co., West Virginia.⁸ Rev. Ernest Wilton Conner died on July 23, 1969 at Phoenix, Maricopa Co., Arizona, at age 87.^3,4 He The Rev. Ernest W. Conner, 87, a former Baptist minister, died Wednesday in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Conner, 1406 W. Butler Drive, came here from Alkol, W.Va., 18 months ago. He had been a minister 50 years and a member of the Left Fork Missionary Baptist Church in Alkol and Odd Fellows Lodge in Matoaka, W. Va. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Addie; four sons, Dr. S. K. Conner and Ernest, both of Phoenix, Woodrow of Barrett, W.Va., and Glendon of Spurlockville, W.Va; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Belknap of Phoenix; a brother out of state; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery. on July 25, 1969.⁴
