Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd with the Rev. Leon Alley officiating. Interment will be held in the Huffville Cemetery with Military Rites by Floyd Post #7854, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion Post #327.      Shelby Jean Conner was born on September 24, 1937 at Floyd Co., Virginia.⁵ As of July 23, 1954,her married name was Mowles.⁴ She married Fredrick Ray "Fred" Mowles on July 23, 1954 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,8,3,4,6 Shelby Jean Conner died on July 1, 2018 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 80.⁶ She Shelby Jean Conner Mowles, 80, of Roanoke, Va. passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at her home peacefully. Shelby was preceded by her husband of 63 years, Fred R. Mowles; her parents Brinton and Vivian (Pat) Conner; and her son Douglas W. Mowles. Shelby is survived by her children, David L. Mowles and wife, Linda, Donald R. Mowles and wife, Cathy, and Dannette M. Reedy and husband, Timothy; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in which she cherished and loved deeply.      Fredrick Ray "Fred" Mowles Fred R. Mowles, 83, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017. Fred was an avid golfer, an employee at Utility Line Equipment, and a long time crew chief for a local race team. Fred was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Aldine Mowles; brothers Robert, Samuel, and Curtis Mowles, and son Douglas W. Mowles. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Shelby Mowles; children, David L. Mowles and wife Linda, Donald R. Mowles and wife Cathy, and Dannette Reedy and husband Timothy; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel. A service will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Horace Light officiating. He was recently preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Vivian Pat "Granny" Conner. Surviving are his wife, Karen Akers Mowles; children, Daniel B.
