Holloway died recently after a lifelong residence at Salona. Another sister, also now dead, was Mrs. Charles Rote, whose sister-in-law, Mrs. Effie Weymouth, was also a Lock Haven resident. Miss Edith Wilson of this city is a cousin of Mrs. Holloway. Mrs. Holloway was a member of the Eastern Star, She resided at 1601 N. Orange Grove Ave., Hollywood. on August 16, 1940.5

Aldridge, 88, of Roanoke, and formerly of Check, Va., passed into the arms of his Lord and Saviour surrounded by his loving family on Friday November, 13, 2009. Bure was a building contractor, working with many local builders, and also had a successful partnership with his son, Charles. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Artie H. Aldridge, brothers, Rex, Velmer, Garland, Willie and Lewis, and sisters, Valary, Lura, Garthie, Ercell, and Versie, son-in-law, George Woolridge, daughter-in-law, Martha Lee Aldridge, numerous nieces and nephews, and a grandson-in-law, Richard Garman. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Willis Aldridge, whom he married on December 23, 1939; his children and their spouses, Mary Woolridge, Sheldon Aldridge, Dennis and Margaret Aldridge, Charles and Peggy Aldridge, Nelda and Barry Wray, Shirley Aldridge, Donna and Claude Hall; grandchildren, Debbie, Darrell, Dreama, Ricky, Ronnie, Sissy, Richard, Fred, Charlie, Sheila, Travis, Joe, Brad, Chris, Beth, and Gary; 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Perdue; and one sister-in-law, Eva Aldridge. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Marvin Barbre and the Reverend Leon Alley officiating. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery. Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home on Sunday after 6 p.m. where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice and Richfield Retirement Center for the special care and kindness during his illness. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, Marlene, Jonathan and Joann Willis, Carolyn Haga, Lois Edmonds, Regina Green, Robin Starnes, Calvin and Darrell Willis, Eric and Vernon Stover, Donna Stover, Robert and Angela Conner, Tonya and Lucas Willis, Tenita and Theresa Buchanan, and Cheree Shaffer and 19 greatgrandchildren; two loving sisters and two loving brothers, Gladys Perdue and Willie Aldridge of Floyd County, and Bure Aldridge of Salem and Versie Hall of Roanoke. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Melrose Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Larry Sprouse. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Park at Clover Hill. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 1001 Franklin Road S.W. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea and is survived by his children, Edward Lee Willis of Salem, Jack Willis and wife, Dottie of Stanley, N.C., Gerald Willis of Roanoke, Richard Willis and wife, Dana of Roanoke; daughters, Eloise Green and Pauline Stover, both of Roanoke, Kathleen Conner of Salem; 19 grandchildren, Jonathan Willis, Joann Willis, Tonya Sprouse, Lucas Willis, Carolyn Haga, Lois Edmonds, Regina (Kay) Green, Robin Starnes, Calvin Willis and Daryl Willis, Eric Stover, Vernon Stover, Donna Stover, Robert A. Conner, Angela Conner, Theresa Buchanan, Tenita Buchanan, Cheree Shaver; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar and Marvin Willis of Roanoke; and sisters, Lena Mitchell and Virginia Aldridge, both of Roanoke, and Eva Aldridge of Pilot. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Old Salem Church (Floyd County) by the Rev. Carter Sloan with burial at Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel. on November 7, 2002.1

     Gladys Ilene Aldridge was buried at Restvale Cemetery, Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.7 She was born on August 30, 1928 at Floyd Co., Virginia.7 She married Carl Wayne Perdue, son of Cromer Floyd Perdue and Nancy J. "Nannie" Stump, on October 6, 1956 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.2,9,7 As of October 6, 1956,her married name was Perdue. Gladys Ilene Aldridge died on August 7, 2011 at Virginia at age 82.7 She Gladys Aldridge Perdue, of Copper Hill, left her earthly home on Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011, to join her husband, Carl Wayne Perdue. She was born on August 30, 1928, to George Wellington Aldridge and Artie Florence Hale who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. She was a member of Sowders Chapel, Shawsville. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Julien and Sharon Perdue, of Christiansburg, Brenda and Terry Young, of Roanoke, and Loretta and Scott Sensabaugh, of Fairfield. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Whitney Perdue, of Christiansburg, Mark Perdue, of Virginia Beach, and Michael Young, of Roanoke. She also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Suzy Hamilton, Ruby Sloan, and Mary Martin, for their excellent care until she made her home at Wheatland Hills. They would also like to thank the staff at Wheatland for making her comfortable during her last days on earth. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, after 6 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be at the home of Julien and Sharon Perdue at 75 Overland Drive, Christiansburg, Va., at all other times. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to the Floyd County Rescue Squad. on August 9, 2011.7
