Wilma was born in 1937 in Cambria, Va. to the late Frank and Reba Rush. She was a beautiful, faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She cherished her family and her church family at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church and had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the embodiment of Proverbs 31:10-31. Even through her decline over the last few years of her life, as memories surrendered to Alzheimer's, she retained her kind spirit and loving heart. She was the rock of our family and will be missed by all who knew her. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. on August 23, 2021.7

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma Rush Chafin; three loving sons, Steve (Ginny) Chafin of Brown Summit, N.C., Gary (Vicky) Chafin of Roanoke, Va. and David (Lynn) Chafin of Greensboro; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren, Matt, Daniel, Rebecca, Mark, Chris and Sam; and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Gilbert (Doris) Chafin of Christiansburg, Va. and sisters-in-law, Donna Chafin of Raleigh, N.C., Doris (Gilbert) Chafin of Christiansburg, Ella Ruth Hutchins of Christiansburg, Va. and Shirley Adkins (Bob) of Fellum, Va. Bob was a deacon at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. He was also a Korean War veteran and received a purple heart for miraculously surviving a gunshot wound that entered and left his body without inuring a major organ. After his stint in the Army, Bob worked in the car dealership industry in N.C. and Va. for several years, then joined the U.S. Postal Service in Greensboro in 1978 and retired as postmaster out of Sparta, N.C. in 1992. After retirement, Bob and Wilma returned to Christiansburg for a few years, then, resided in Oak Island, N.C. before returning to Greensboro in 1999. A graveside service will be at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. on May 28, 2021.3

She was a member of the Blacksburg Odd Fellows Lodge #20 and served as Treasurer for them. Frances was also a member of the Rebekah Assembly of Virginia where she served as a Past President. Interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery. on October 6, 2009.2

     Mary Pauline Dickerson was buried at Piedmont Cemetery, Rt. 11 to Shawsville, turn at nursing home, Rt. 637, about 8 miles on the left, Montgomery Co., Virginia.2,3 She was born on March 18, 1929 at Shawsville, Montgomery Co., Virginia.2,1 She married Arthur Eldridge Conner Jr., son of Arthur Eldridge Conner Sr. and Maude Gertrude Atkinson, on December 23, 1950 at Shawsville, Montgomery Co., Virginia.2,1,4 As of December 23, 1950,her married name was Conner. Mary Pauline Dickerson died on February 8, 2002 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 72.3,2 She CONNER, MARY PAULINE, 72, of Salem, died Friday, February 8, 2002 at her home. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shirley and Ken Trout of Christiansburg, Arnold "Butch" and Barbara Conner of Shawsville, Donna and Danny Clark of Roanoke, Arthur Wayne Conner of Salem; grandchildren and spouses, Renee Farley and Nick Aesy of Salem, Arnold "Arnie" and Jessie Conner of Elliston, Christina Conner and fianc, Mike Dillon and Heather Trout, all of Christiansburg. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Johnathan Farley, Tiffany Conner and Michelle Conner; one brother, Woodie Dickerson of West Virginia. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Gentle Sheppard Hospice nurse, Linda Hardin, for the special care she gave. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery in Alleghany Springs. on February 10, 2002.3
