Mike Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Huffville Cemetery, Floyd County. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Arrangements are being handled by Richardson-Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. on April 2, 1999.8

William Woodrow Furrow died on June 26, 2021 at Indiana at age 92.6 He In loving memory of William W. "Bill" Furrow, faithful husband, loving father, and devoted grandfather, left this earth peacefully to be with his Savior and Lord on the 26 th of June, 2021. Bill was born on January 16, 1929 in Gary, WV, a son of the late Jesse L. and Stella (Wiggins) Furrow. He married the love of his life, Doris Jarrett on August 28, 1946 in Pikeville, KY. Bill, also known as Toby, lived a long fruitful life of 92 years, based upon his faith in the Lord and Savior of which he strongly believed. He has been a resident of West Virginia, Utah and Indiana. Bill retired in 1973 from U.S. Steel in West Virginia and later moved to Indiana. He worked in maintenance for New Castle Community Schools before retiring in 1993. He also worked on many building projects in his lifetime such as churches and homes. Bill and Doris faithfully attended Cross Road Church. His family and friends will miss him dearly and forever hold him close in their hearts. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 75 years, Doris Furrow; three daughters, Nina (husband: Facundo) Cortez, Donna (husband: Michael) Weller and Patricia (husband: John) Tyner; a son, W. Lynn (wife: Karmen) Furrow; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifton (wife: Shirley) Furrow, Malcom (wife: Dottie) Furrow and Paul Furrow and a sister, Velma (husband: Bob) Gilliam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn S. Patton; six siblings, Agnes Huff, Ray Furrow, Junior Furrow, Margie Hawks, Dorothy Sparks and Ruth Atkinson. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle. on June 29, 2021.6

He was educated in Franklin Springs, Ga., attending high school in Emmanuel College and received his associate degree also from Emmanuel College. He received his bachelors of science degree in education from Bluefield State College, later attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn., with a masters degree in education/administration and began his teaching career in Huddleston, Va., moving to Shenandoah. Va., Amelia, Ohio, returning to the area in the mid 60's, where he taught school at Oakvale. He later served as assistant principal at Bluefield High School, Glenwood Junior High School and Athens High School. Rev. Furrow was a member of the Appalachian Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church at Dublin, Va. He started his ministries in Bedford, Va., in 1952 until 1957 moving to the Montcalm area where he pastored until 1962. He then was transferred to the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia until 1964. He then moved to Amelia where he taught school while pastoring until 1967. When he returned to Mercer County, he served as the Minister of Music for the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church in Princeton. In 1975, he established a church in Pearisburg. Va., until 1979. He then served as the minister of the Sunrise Chapel Church on Bent Mountain near Athens. In 1985, he established the Landmark Bible Church at Speedway where he pastored until 1989. He served on the Evangelism Board of the Conference for many years and had served as choir leader for many area camp m eetings. He held the office of vice president of the Maranatha Bible Institute in Dublin, Va., and served both on the board and in the Home Missions Department of the Appalachian Conference. He was preceded in death by one infant son, and one brother, Jessie L. Furrow Jr. Survivors: wife, Norma Miller Furrow: sons, Randall E. Furrow of Warsaw, Va., and Gregory R. Furrow of the Bent Mountain Road; sisters, Mrs. Roy (Agnes) Huff of Charlottesville, Va., Mrs. Clayton (Margie) Hawks and Mrs. Buster (Dorothy) Sparks, both of Princeton, Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Atkinson of Athens and Mrs. Bob (Velma) Gilliam of Burlington, N.C; brothers. Rev. William Furrow of New Castle, Ind., Malcolm Furrow and Clifton Furrow, both of Crozet, Va., Larry Furrow of Wellsboro, Pa., and Rev. Paul Furrow of Anderson, Ind; four grandchildren. Her ministry and love will be greatly missed by all that knew her.The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 11, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. on August 11, 2013.6

She was a very active member of the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church on Highland Avenue, Princeton, she was a former Sunday School teacher along with being a member of the Women's Auxiliary. She served as a volunteer at Princeton Community Hospital. Margie was devoted to her family, she was a loving caregiver, having cared for many members of her family and lending a helping hand to those less fortunate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Edward Clayton Hawks along with two brothers, Jesse L. Furrow Jr. and Reverend Ray E. Furrow and a sister, Gertrude Furrow in addition to two grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was an employee of the DuPont Company for 27 years and was a member and deacon of the Westwood Baptist Church in Waynesboro. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Webber Furrow, Waynesboro; two sons, Edward G. Furrow, Fayetteville, N.C; Keith W. Furrow, Blacksburg, Va; one sister, Cindy F. Dopp, Roanoke; two brothers, Roger W. Furrow, High Point, N.C; Randy M. Furrow, Kernersville, N.C; two grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. A funeral service will be held at Westwood Baptist Church in Waynesboro Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday conducted by the Rev. Jack Mallory. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 726, Waynesboro, Va. The family will receive friends at the McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on July 9, 1990.1

     Alberta Susan Meador Alberta Furrow of Roanoke passed away early Thursday morning, May 16, 2019. She was the wife of the late Roy E. Furrow for 47 years prior to his death in 1985. Born on January 11, 1920 in Franklin County, Virginia, Alberta was the daughter of the late Walter and Berta Lumsden Meador. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wilson Furrow; her daughter-in-law, Judith Weaver Furrow; and seven brothers and three sisters. Alberta was primarily a homemaker who dedicated much of her early adult life to raising her four children. She had a “green thumb,” and enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family. After her husband, Roy, died, she realized her dream of traveling all over the world, and took up hobbies such as painting and ballroom dancing. Alberta leaves to cherish her memory three children – Roger W. Furrow of Moneta; Randy M. Furrow and wife, Ann, of Goode; and Cindy S. Furrow of Roanoke. Alberta’s four grandchildren remember her fondly as “MeMa” – Eddie Furrow (and Anne Marie) of O’Fallon, IL; Keith Furrow (and Paige) of Blountville, TN; Tad Furrow (and Rebecca) of High Point, NC; and Wendy Furrow-Scott (and Donald) of Moneta, VA. Mema also leaves behind nine amazing great grandchildren – Patrick (and Amanda), Katie, Brian, Jenn, Levi, McKenzie, Ryan, Nathan, and Tura; and two beautiful great great granddaughters– Madelyn and Payton. Also surviving are daughter-in-law, Joyce Furrow (Jerry), as well as a host of special nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Alberta’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the Vinton Chapel of Oakey’s Funeral Home -- 627 Hardy Road, Vinton, Virginia 24179. The service will be conducted by Dr. Kevin Meadows. The family will receive friends in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. – one hour prior to the service. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Alberta’s caregivers at Bedford County Nursing Home and Centra Hospice (Bedford).3 She was born on January 11, 1920 at Franklin Co., Virginia.2,3 She married Roy Everett Furrow, son of Charlie Roscoe Furrow and Zora Mary Beckner, on January 31, 1938 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.1,2,3 As of January 31, 1938,her married name was Furrow.2 Alberta Susan Meador died on May 16, 2019 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 99.3

Mrs. Wilson was pre-deceased by her parents, Solomon and Elizabeth Ellis Monseur, of Roanoke, and her oldest sister, Mrs. Mary Authur, of Portsmith, Ohio. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Samuel C. Wilson, a U.S. Forest Service retiree; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol T. Wilson-Bunn and James C. Bunn II, Falls Church, Va., Angela M. Wilson, Roanoke, and Sarah W. Cook and Ronald A. Cook, Roanoke; one grandson, Samuel A. Cook; one granddaughter, Carly J. Cook; two sisters, Marie M. Turner and Mae K. Monseur, both of Roanoke; one brother, Solomon Monseur, Granite, N.C; a number of nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and other kind, caring relatives, friends and neighbors. The Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 26, 1996 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, with Father Randy Rule officiating. There will be no viewing or reception at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Roanoke Catholic School Fund, P.O. Box 11926, Roanoke, Va. 24002, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 1996 at Oakey's North Chapel. on August 24, 1996.1
