Octavia Frances Iddings Mrs. Octavia Frances Vest, wife of C. W. Vest, was born April 5, 1858, and departed this life Jun 7, 1923, making life's journey years, two months and two days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Iddings and was married to C. W. Vest, March 9, 1876. To this union nine children were born - three boys and six girls - all of whom are living; namely: S. P. Vest, of Pilot, Va; Mrs. E. H. Sexton, of Twin Branch, W. Va. Mrs. W. A. Compton, of Floyd, Va. Mrs. C. O. Carr, Mrs. B. W. Conner, Mrs. R. W. Conner, Miss Maye Vest, H. L. Vest and Albert Vest, of Simpsons, Va. Mrs. Vest was converted in early life, joined the M. E. church and lived a consistent Christian life until called home. She was loyal to her church, her home and her God; was one of the best of Women and dearly loved by all who knew her. Through the blistering sunshine, or the storms of a winter's night, she was always ready to go to lend a helping hand to someone in pain, or comfort one in sorrow. Truly it can be said of her, as of one of old, "She hath done what she could," and, while she did these things in her humble, motherly way without the hope or thought of reward. He whose words cannot pass away has said: "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me." She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith and has now gone to claim her crown of righteousness and to dwell forever with her Savior. The funeral was conducted by Revs. Rumburg, Warner and Bowyer, in the presence of a very large crowd at Haven's Chapel. The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery to sleep until God calls it from the dust.5 She was buried at Iddings Cemetery, near intersection of Daniel's Run Road and Huffville Road, Terrys Fork, Floyd Co., Virginia.8,1,5,4 She was born on April 5, 1858 at Floyd Co., Virginia.8,2,1,5,4 She married Charles William "Charlie Will" Vest, son of Henry L.
