Mr. Rierson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Rierson; small children, Russell Edward, 1, and James Wayne, 4; his parents Mr. and Mrs. James Rierson of Colora; two sisters, Mrs. Nadine Hall, Marshallton, Del., and Mrs. Louann Smith, Newark; and two brothers, Wilson, in the U.S. Air Force at Westover Air Field in Massachusetts, and John, North East. on August 19, 1965.2

He loved farming and owned his own crop farm in Greenville, TN. John sold the vegetables that he grew in his garden at the Famer’s Market. He enjoyed collecting antiques and working with tractors, often fixing up used, old tractors. John was a proud Army veteran, 3rd degree Mason of the Baileyton, TN, Lodge #520 and attended Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church. John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosie Rierson; son, John Steven Rierson; daughter, Kelly Lynette Reynolds and her husband, Jeff; two grandchildren: Nathan Reynolds; Hailee Reynolds; sister, Louann Frank; sister-in-law, Audrey Rierson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by two brothers: Wilson Rierson; William Rierson; and two sisters: Nadine Hall and Judith Rierson. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery. on February 26, 2018.2

The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Side Church of Christ, 1705 Starview Drive, Salem, Va. 24153. Surviving are his one daughter, Jennifer and husband, Jason Gill; three brothers, Greg and wife, Sherry Dalton and children, Walker, Jamie and Beth; Mark Dalton, and children, Mark and Amber; David Dalton, and children, Leann, Logan, and Lauren; a great-nephew, Noah; two sisters, Tracy Newman, Diane Burke Yates, and children, Stephanie Yates, and children, Brittany, Jessica, and Matthew, Travis Yates and fiancée, Nikki Long; brother-in-law, Earl Yates; a cousin and special friend, Clint Carden and family; and numerous other family members, loved ones, and many employees became close friends with him at Auburn High School. Danny had a huge heart with plenty of room for many friends and always put friends and family before himself. You could catch him at the races or see him at the beach. His famous last words were "Maybe someday I'll win the lottery!" I guess in a way, he did win the lottery! He is with God now and forever at peace and sitting on the beach watching the sunset. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank all of the friends and loved ones that visited him while in the hospital. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va., with the Rev. Buford Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 5 p.m. The Burke family is being served by Horne Funeral Home & Crematory, Christiansburg, Va., 540-382-2612. on August 5, 2010.2
