She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall A. and Roxie Manning Sission; husband, Oba M. Hunt; and son-in-law, Wayne Britt. She was a longtime member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church and a member of the McDaniel Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Iris retired from the Montgomery County Treasurers office after 25 years of service. Surviving are her daughter, Joan H. Britt; grandchildren, Kimberly Dorton and husband David, Adam Britt and wife Andra, Allen Britt and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Britt, Brittney Dorton, Abigail Britt, Samuel Dorton, Anna Stuart Britt, Katherine Dorton, and Nicholas Britt; sister, Cleo S. DeWeese; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to either Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, New Hope Presbyterian Church, or Good Samaritan Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff of the Joseph C. Thomas Center at Richfield for their love and compassion over the last 10 years. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. on July 13, 2014.6

Sarah was born in Gower, Missouri, but lived most of her life in McDowell County, West Virginia. She attended Concord College and was a school teacher as a young woman. She and her husband of almost 60 years, Jeffrie Lee Allen, who preceded her in 1997, owned and operated McDowell Auto Parts in Welch, WV, for most of their married life. They sold the business and retired to Rock ledge, FL, in 1989, after vacationing here for many years. Sarah and Jeff were avid golfers and played as long as their health permitted. They were strong supporters of the First United Methodist Church of Welch, and the first United Methodist Church of Cocoa. Although they had no children of their own they helped many young people over the years with education and other endeavors, and supported various missionary programs. Sarah was the last remaining of eight siblings, the most recent to pass away being Ina Simpson Payne of Cocoa in Novem ber 2001. Sarah is survived by nieces and nephews in Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and Florida. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Brevard Hospice and The Town Square Assisted Living Facility for the loving care and concern they provided Sarah. Burial will be at Florida Memorial Gardens. on May 25, 2007.4
