Hall, 62, of Salem, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013. He was born in Roanoke, a son of the late Horace Vance Hall and Barbara Hall Spence of Salem, and had been a lifelong area resident. In addition to his father, his brother, Darrell Hall, preceded him in death. James was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He worked as a security officer, was a member of the N.R.A., and enjoyed watching NASCAR. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa Stanton and her husband, Lee; a sister, Linda Hall; stepfather, Charles Spence; granddaughter, Darien Stanton; and a special aunt, Maxine Caldwell. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, in Piedmont Cemetery in Shawsville. The family will receive friends Thursday, February14, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home and Crematory, Salem, 540-389-5441. on February 14, 2013.4

Hall, Matthew T. and his wife Megan Hall; daughters, Michelle Hall Hoops, Ruth Hall and her husband Jonathan Sallee; mother and stepfather, Barbara Hall and Charles R. Spence; grandchildren, Matthew H. Price, Shane T. Hoops, Jonathan W. Sallee, Michaela M. Hall; and stepgrandchild, Ashley N. Baine; a brother, James W. Hall; and a sister, Linda S. Hall; numerous special nieces, nephews, and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Vance Hall and a son-in-law, Roy S. Hoops. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Senecca Baptist Church in Elliston, with Pastors Marshall Cochran and Elmer Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem. on February 19, 2004.1
