He was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #158-147 in 1984. He was the son of the late Frank Bandy and Thelma Otey Bazzery. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Reba Wickham Bandy; siblings, Jane Hite (Nick), Janie Bell Bandy, Benny Bandy, and Ron Bandy. Howard is survived by his three sons, Paul C. Bandy (Patty), Howard R. Bandy (Mira Anderson), and Dana L. Bandy (Deborah); granddaughter, Brittaney Bandy Wimmer (Jeremy); stepgranddaughter, Rachel Gilmer (Ryan); great-grandson, Wyatt Randall Wimmer; step-great-grandchildren, Rayden and Jaxon McKee. He is also survived by many special friends and family that were very dear to him. He spent his years working with the Operating Engineers Local #158-147 as a heavy equipment operator and superintendent. Throughout his years of service, he took on many roles with the local union, including president. He was proud to serve the union for 70 years. He spent his spare time in his wood shop where he enjoyed woodworking and making special pieces for his family and friends. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will held on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mark Spencer officiating.
