When Katherine Snuffer married Anthony Sowder, the Bible passed into the Sowder family. According to tradition, William Sowder bought it at an auction of his father Anthony's estate, William's son, Jacob Rush Sowder, acquired it after William's death. Jacob Rush left it to his daughter, Annie Sowder of Christiansburg, and at her death a few years ago, she left it to her nephew, the Rev. Eugene Sowder of Christiansburg, who still has it. It is in German.
