Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24018. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. on January 19, 2000.4

McMurren, 88, Arizona pioneer, who died Feb. 5 at his home here, were held Sunday. Mr. McMurren was born May 23, 1964 in Baker County, Ore., and came to Prescott in 1874 with his parents. As a youth he assisted his father to clear the land where the fairground is now located so that a rodeo could be held there. His parents moved to Graham County in 1876 where he matured and entered the cattle business. Later he served 12 years as an engineer in civil service for the government. Mr. McMurren, an engineer on the Gila Valley, Globe and Northern Railroad, drove the first train from Bowie to Globe. He moved to Prescott in 1921 where he worked as a carpenter until he retired. He moved to Clemenceau in 1947. He is survived by nine daughters, Mrs. Sharlot Francis, Douglas; Mrs. William Hebbert, Exeter, Calif; Mrs. L. R. Crews, Cottonwood; Mrs. Tom Davenport, Potterville, Calif; Mrs. Thelbert Arnold, Clemenceau; Mrs. C. A. Ruston, Reedley, Calif; Mrs. W. L. Dickison, Prescott; Mrs. Aubrey C. Jacobs, Kingman; and Mrs. Charley Maennche, Winslow; three sons, Thomas of Clemenceau, John J., of Cornville, and William A. of Globe; 37 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. on February 11, 1953.4
