Upon return from World War II, he began his life long career as an electrician, working for Delta Electric Company for 13 years, S&W Cafeterias, and Macke Vending Company from which he retired after 25 years of service. Along with his many accomplishments, he served in the Civil Air Patrol for more than 50 years. He was a Free Mason of the Taylor Lodge in Salem for over 50 years. He was also, a member of the American Legion Post #3. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alta Wade Conner; brother, G. Wade Conner and wife, Eunice, of Vinton; daughter, Dolores Leed and husband, Stephen, of Yorktown; one grandson; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the Wade family and the best neighbors in the world. Special thanks to the VAMC, Salem and the doctors, nurses and other staff who have provided excellent care over the last several years. Also, to the Good Samaritan Hospice staff for their care and support over the last three months. Your compassion and care are greatly appreciated. Funeral Service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Marvin Wade officiating. Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.      Kenneth William "Kenny" Conner Kenneth “Kenny” Conner, 66, of Salem went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2019 surrounded by family. Born in Virginia he is survived by his wife of 40 years Wanda Wirt Conner and was the son of Lawson Daniel William Conner and Myrtle Mae Vest Conner, both deceased. Kenny enjoyed fishing, gardening, and trips to Gatlinburg, TN. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpappy. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Mindy Maxwell and husband Jonathan; his son, Andy Conner and wife Hailey; four grandchildren, Caleb and Payton Maxwell and Mason and Raegan Conner; his sisters and their husbands, Geraldine and Gene Hill, Brenda and Breece Surber, Kathy and Jimmy Haley, and Mary Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Cline Conner; his Aunt Ruby and step sister, Opal. The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, 1330 East Main Street, on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 am by Pastor Brian Gordon. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.6 He was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.6 He Raised as a foster child by his aunt Ruby Edith Vest.2 He was born on December 16, 1952 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.3,5 He married Wanda Elizabeth Wirt on February 20, 1979 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.3,6 Kenneth William "Kenny" Conner died on June 17, 2019 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 66.6

Conner; daughters, Jenny Conner and Melissa Conner; foster sister, Helen Conner of Salem; brother, Kenneth Conner and wife, Wanda, of Salem; sisters, Geraldine Hill and husband, Gene, of Salem, Brenda Sarber and husband, Breece, of Elliston, Kathy Haley and husband, Jimmy, of Salem; Opal Waldecker and husband, Bob, of Salem; nieces and nephews, Steve, Kim and children, Rene, Darryl and children, Rickie and children, Mindy and Andy, all of Salem, Tim, Christy and children, of Lynchburg, and Sandy, Reid and children of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by numerous friends, Harley riders, and business acquaintances. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Christian Life International Church, Pastor David L. Tuell officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. on October 12, 2005.7
