Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 13, 2007 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Morris Fleischer officiating. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Maberry Funeral Home. on June 12, 2007.6

He was born November 20, 1924, to Everett Eugene and Lillian Wilson Manning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Manning; and his sisters, Virginia M. Poff and Edith M. Sykes. Everett was retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway with 34 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945 in Europe. He was a member of Poages Mill Church of the Brethren and was also a member of the American Legion. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, yard work and NASCAR racing. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Mina U. Manning, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Olivia Manning of Graham, N.C., Wilbert and Faye Manning, of Vinton; one sister, Gladys M. Moore, of Burlington, N.C; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday August 1, 2013. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013. The Rev. E.B. Shoemaker and the Rev. Maurice Wright will officiate. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Military honors by the U.S. Army and the D.A.V. Honor Guard. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel. on August 1, 2013.8

He loved to fish and taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to fish at his pond. A son, Steven Leon DeWeese, precedes him in death. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Irene DeWeese; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Jay Turner and Dian and Charlie Hunt; grandchildren, Lisa Williams and husband, Randy and Steven Hunt and Kimberly Hunt; great-grandchildren, Travis Williams and B. J. Hand; brothers, Layman and Mavis DeWeese and Hubert and Ocelia DeWeese; sisters, Violet Graighead, Josephine and Bill Barksdale and Lois and Lewis Rock; sister-in-law and husband, Lorene and Byron Carr; nieces; nephews and friends. Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery with the Reg. Greg Mills officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd. A very special thank you to sister, Violet Graighead, for all the love and support throughout the years. She was born April 16, 1908, at Copper Hill, Va., and was a daughter of the late William Daniel and Lillie Hollins Craighead. She was a member of the Mudfork Church of Christ of Mudfork. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Mr. Eldridge Issac Carr, one son Jack Melvin Carr, one sister and seven brothers. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Johnson, of Deleware City, Del., June Carr, of Tip Top, Va., and Bernice Horn, and her husband Carnes, of Springville, Va; two sons, Larry Carr, and his wife Peggy of Cedar Bluff, Va., and Roy Carr, and his wife Deborah, of Smyrna, Del; daughter-in-law Mrs. Esther Carr, of North Tazewell; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-children; and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Mudfork Church of Christ at Mudfork, Va., with Johnny Elmore and the Reverend Roger Monk officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell. Friends may call at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour before the funeral service on Tuesday. Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell is in charge of arrangements. on March 12, 2001.1
