He was the optician for Marquette Mall, King Optical and Sears Optical retiring in 1990. He was a proud veteran and was a drill sergeant during World War II. He and his wife enjoyed bowling, and while his family was growing up he volunteered for the Boy Scouts. Ilene enjoyed bowling as well and was the anchor for her loving family. Ilene was involved in the Girl Scouts and helped set up Soni Springs Girl Scout Camp in Three Oaks, Michigan. on May 8, 2021.³

Several years ago, she helped found Timber Ridge, a development for senior citizens. She and her late husband, Millard H. Wimmer, were the first to move into the development and for many years she served on its board of directors. Mrs. Wimmer also participated in, several charitable activities and volunteered on the Auxiliary Board of the Westminster Rescue Mission. "She was a caring person in so many ways," said the Rev. Scott L. Duffey, her pastor. "When she couldn't get around much, she still made treats for people, sent cards and called them. She liked to keep in touch in those ways." She is survived by a daughter, Janet Wimmer Sipe of York, Pa; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. on August 20, 1995.¹
