COPPER HILL WOMAN DIES AFTER CAR CRASH A Copper Hill woman was killed Thursday afternoon when her car overturned on the Blue Ridge Parkway between Bent Mountain and Floyd. Brenda Jenks, 46, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from her vehicle when her southbound car flipped and landed upside down. She was airlifted by Life-Guard 10 to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died.A parkway ranger said the cause of the accident had not been determined... on January 11, 1992.9

He was retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #158-147 in 1984. He was the son of the late Frank Bandy and Thelma Otey Bazzery. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Reba Wickham Bandy; siblings, Jane Hite (Nick), Janie Bell Bandy, Benny Bandy, and Ron Bandy. He spent his years working with the Operating Engineers Local #158-147 as a heavy equipment operator and superintendent. Throughout his years of service, he took on many roles with the local union, including president. He was proud to serve the union for 70 years. He spent his spare time in his wood shop where he enjoyed woodworking and making special pieces for his family and friends. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will held on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mark Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Alleghany Springs, Shawsville. on October 30, 2021.4
