     Sadie Bell Slusser was buried at Haymakertown Cemetery, Botetourt Co., Virginia.⁵ She was born on May 24, 1937 at Craig Co., Virginia.⁵ She married Norman Jack Gusler, son of Marvin Gusler and Stella Huffman, on June 4, 1955 at Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co., South Carolina.⁶ As of June 4, 1955,her married name was Gusler. Sadie Bell Slusser died on November 4, 1985 at Botetourt Co., Virginia, at age 48.⁵

Poff, age 72, passed away Friday morning in a Salem hospital. Mr. Poff retired from the N & W Railroad. He is survived by his wife, Mabel C. Poff of Copper Hill; two sons, Winston R. Poff and Rex S. Poff, both of Copper Hill; three brothers, Wilson Poff of Roanoke; Murrie Poff of Check; and Shirley Poff of Check; six sisters, Evelyn Conner, Beulah Vest, and Colene King, all of Copper Hill; Sylvia Short of Roanoke; Jacqueline Blackwell and Louise on June 16, 1990.¹⁷

     Earl Victory Slusser was born on October 15, 1944 at Botetourt Co., Virginia.⁴ He married Linda Marie Sayers on February 4, 1967 at Wythe Co., Virginia.^1,3,5 Earl Victory Slusser died on January 13, 2022 at Virginia at age 77.³ He Earl Victory Slusser, 77, of Fincastle, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Earl had worked for Moore's Building Center and Pro Build as a contractor sales representative. Earl was a natural wheeler dealer and loved farming, playing softball with the Moore's softball teams, four-wheel drive racing with his wife, Linda, team bowling, an avid hunter and gun trader, mechanically inclined with building and maintaining cars, and tractors, and very passionate on residential construction. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sayers Slusser; parents, Oakey Schoolfield Slusser and Ethel Crawford Slusser Broughman; sister, Sadie Gusler; and brothers, Bud and Charles Slusser. Survivors include his son, Earnest "Vince" Slusser of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jeff Boothe of Fincastle; grandson, Sidney Ryan Wilcher; sisters, Rosie Welch, Lillie Fisher, Louise Slusser, and Jean Hartman; brothers, Lomax and Jim Slusser; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be private. on January 17, 2022.³

     Charles Edward Slusser Sr. married Donna Jean Dowdy.¹ Charles Edward Slusser Sr. was born on November 30, 1954.¹ He married Donna Marie Herndon on April 14, 1978. Charles Edward Slusser Sr. died on January 6, 2015 at Virginia at age 60.¹ He Charles Edward Slusser Sr., of Bedford, was born November 30, 1954, and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Charlie was a beloved husband, Dad, PawPaw, brother, and friend. He had a love and passion for driving his dump trucks. He was predeceased by father, Okie Schoolfield Slusser; mother, Ethel Blanche Crawford Slusser Broughman; stepfather, George Broughman; and sister, Sadie Belle Slusser Gusler. He is survived by his wife, "Donna Jean" Dowdy Slusser; children, Marie Slusser, Charles Edward Slusser Jr. and wife, Jamie, and Jared Lee Slusser and wife, Courtney; grandchildren, Rebecca Marie Hyer, Cody James Hyer, Hannah Christine Slusser, Jacob Charles Slusser, and Aedan Lee Slusser; brothers and sisters, Otho "Bud" Slusser and wife, Betty, Rosie Welch and husband, Bobby, Lilly Fisher and husband, Ray, Earl Slusser, Lomax Slusser, Louise Slusser, Jean Slusser Hartman, and James "Jim" Slusser and wife, Trish; and special friends, "Peaches", Mike Anderson, Charlie Alls, and Charles "Horsey" Hunter. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Trinity Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held noon Saturday with the Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. Food and fellowship will follow the service. A private burial service will be held at a family cemetery in Fincastle. on January 9, 2015.¹

She was born in Floyd County, the eldest daughter to the late James Lafayette and Ocie Wilson Poff. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband of seven years and the father of her children, Garwood S. Conner; her second husband of 49 years, Ernest N. Conner; son, Clifton W. Conner; brothers, Edmund Poff and wife, Mabel, and Murrie Poff; and brothers-in-law, Namon Vest, Shike King, and Diamond Shortt. She is survived by her son, Charles G. Conner and wife, Wilma, of Troutville; daughter, Margaret C. Jones and husband, Ronald, of Roanoke; grandson, Patrick C. Conner; granddaughters, Rhonda J. Graham and husband, Brad, Janet I. Conner, Tina J. Worley and husband, Patrick, and Teresa Jones; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Blake and Jacob Graham, Megan Worley, and Cathryn Conner. She also has one great-great-grandson, Eric Holden Mabe. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Beulah Vest, Colean King, Jaqueline Blackwell and husband, Harvey, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, and Shirley and Emma Poff, sisters-in-law, Joyce Poff and Newassa Conner, brother-in-law, E.G. Conner and wife, Shirley, many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Melvin Poff. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. Beulah was born on January 27, 1921, in Floyd County, daughter to the late James Lafayette and Ocie Wilson Poff. She attended Crossroads Church for many years.She was preceded in death by her husband, Namon R. Vest; brothers, Edmund Poff and wife, Mabel, and Murrie Poff; sisters, Evelyn Conner and Colean King; and brothers-in-law, Harvey Blackwell, Shike King, and Diamond Shortt.She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte V. Brown and husband, Wayne, of Roanoke; and son, Donnie Jack Vest and wife, Carol, of Copper Hill. Also surviving are her sisters and brothers, Jaqueline Blackwell, Sylvia Shortt, Louise and Dorsey Thompson, Wilson and Audrey Poff, and Shirley and Emma Poff; sister-in-law, Joyce Poff; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County.
