Airy, N.C; 31 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. on January 12, 1948.1

Note - Pine Spur Road does not exist any more. Probably anyone could walk along it, but it was near Cross Roads Church and went into Franklin County going to Callaway. on March 22, 1824.6 He Deed between Stephen Reed and Peter Poff for $150, 100 acres on Little River joining the land of Peter Guerrant, the widow Jackson and Jonathan Conner. signed: Stephen Reed on September 6, 1825.6 He died before 1850 at Montgomery Co., Virginia; Jonathan was not enumerated in the 1850 Census.8

He came to West Virginia when he was 18 and worked for Loup Creek Colliery Co. at Ingram Branch and Page. He later moved to Fayetteville where he operated a restaurant until 12 years ago. For the past 9 years he lived in Beckley with his daughter Mrs. Hugh Burdette. He was a member of the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church. Additional survivors include Eldredge Shawkey of Oak Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Creger of Mount Hope, Mrs. R. R. Dooley of Fayetteville, and Mrs. Vida Comer of Dobson, North Carolina; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville with Rev. Victor Scott officiating. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today. on August 14, 1974.3

C. A. Tucker, assisted by J. C. Angle. Internment followed in Sunset Cemetery. Mr. Poff was a native of Floyd county and was born April 18, 1895. For many years he had resided in Montgomery county. He was engaged in farming and in the livestock business. circa October 28, 1943.2
