Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Ivey Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family would like to thank everyone on 3 West at Richfield for her care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Bethel Baptist Church. on May 20, 2011.2

Elizabeth Boyd Elmore, 91, passed away in her sleep Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Greenspring retirement community in Springfield, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Warren Elmore, originally of Roanoke, VA, and lately of Annandale, VA. Mrs. Elmore was born in Charleston, SC, moved to Spartanburg, SC during the depression, and graduated from Spartanburg High. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, until relocating to Washington, DC, where she worked for the US Soil Conservation Service of the Department of Agriculture. She met her husband in DC and they were married in 1947, finally settling in Annandale in 1954. Mrs. Elmore was primarily a mother and housewife, although later in life she worked over ten years for H&R Block and was certified as an Enrolled Agent practicing before the Internal Revenue Service. She was a founding member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Annandale. Her many ministries there included Altar Guild, Sunday School teacher, Kitchen, Bazaar, Rummage Sale, VBS, and a charter member of Chatting Fingers. The church honored her as a “Saint of Alban”. She was also active for many years in the Girls Scouts of the Nation’s Capital, was a Cub Scout den mother, and served on the Masonville Elementary PTA. She loved reading, TV crime shows, crossword puzzles, and pinochle. Mrs. Elmore is survived by: Four children: Ann E. Graham (Louis) of Forest, VA, Elizabeth E. Rhoad of Lexington, SC, James W. Elmore, Jr. (Pam) of Penn Laird, VA, and Leslie E. Martin (Warren) of Burke, VA. Eight grandchildren: Megan G. Watson, Casey Martin, J. Elliott Rhoad, George Graham, Kelly Elmore, Ben Martin, Austin Elmore, and J. Sterling Elmore. Nine great-grandchildren: Aiden Rhoad, James Watson, Elizabeth Watson, Amelia Rhoad, Katelyn Graham, Charley Ann Martin, Madison Graham, Connor Martin, and Calvin Martin.2 She was born on May 23, 1925 at Charleston, Charleston Co., South Carolina.2 She married James Warren Elmore Sr., son of Leonard Houston "Jake" "Leslie" Elmore and Jane Marie "Janie" Zimmerman, on April 26, 1947.1,2 As of April 26, 1947,her married name was Elmore.1 Elizabeth Fleming Boyd died on July 21, 2016 at Springfield, Fairfax Co., Virginia, at age 91.2

Gary was born and reared in Salem, Virginia.He graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1958.Following high school, Gary attended what was then known as Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1962 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation from college, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.LTC Poff served as an officer in the Army for over 26 years. During his military career, he served two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Europe, in addition to many other assignments.He was a true hero in many ways. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne P. Woodhams (Tom) of Slidell, Louisiana; son, Scott L. Poff of Savannah; four grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Maggie and Phillip; and a sister, Brenda P. Zippin (Richard) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also is survived by beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, Savannah, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors conducted by the Reverend Billy Miller. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or to the Isle of Hope Baptist Church, 22 Rose Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31406. on September 3, 2014.4

Sheila was born in Marion, Va., reared in Salem, Va., and traveled the world as an Army wife before she and her family settled in Savannah, Ga. She was an active member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Gary L. Poff; daughter, Yvonne P. Woodhams (Tom), of Leesville, Va; son, Scott L. Poff, of Savannah; and four grandchildren, Katie, Alex, Maggie, and Phillip. She has three sisters, Lucy Epperly (Lennie), Donna Zirkle (John), and Jan Heath (David), all of Salem, Va. She spent over 26 years as an Army wife and was a loving mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, from 6 until 7 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in Fox & Weeks' Chapel at 7 p.m. conducted by the Rev.
