     Roy Jackson Keaton was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.3 He married Violet Mary Elias.7 Roy Jackson Keaton was born on April 27, 1922 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.4,5,6 He married Lucy Mae Vest, daughter of Clifford Elwood Vest and Lucy Penelope "Nellie" Williams, on January 8, 1949 at Roanoke, Virginia.5 Roy Jackson Keaton and Lucy Mae Vest were divorced on July 23, 1956 at Roanoke, Virginia.8 Roy Jackson Keaton died on January 12, 2000 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 77.3,4 He KEATON, Roy Jackson, 77, of the Virginia Veteran's Care Center, and formerly of Rasmont Rd., Roanoke, and Alexandria, died Wednesday, January 12, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Keaton. Mr. Keaton joined the Navy and served in Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was the Helmsman for the U.S.S. Houston on December 7, 1941 and aided in the successful rescue of the ship and its crew. He was retired from the Rodman Local #201. Mr. Keaton was a member of VFW Post #4522. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gaye K. and Edward E. Shepherd Jr; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Warner and Deborah Keaton, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, Walter Charles "W.C." Beck III, of Richmond, Melissa Ann Beck, of Sherman Oaks, Calif., John J. "J.J." Keaton, Elizabeth K. Gray and Warner Joseph Keaton, all of Roanoke; numerous great-grandchildren, stepchildren, Barbara Cumbo, James Ternent and wife, Loise; stepgrandchildren, Buddy Cumbo and Cindy Cumbo. Services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2000. The Rev. Edward E. Shepherd will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. on January 15, 2000.3

He was born on November 2, 1926, in Floyd County to Daniel and Louella Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and his wife of 66 years, Eunice Carter Conner. Wade is survived by his son, Danny Wade Conner and wife, Jennifer; two granddaughters, Emma and Allison Conner; his sisters-in-law, Inez Fletcher and Alta Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wade proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service he began his career as an electrician. He was a 65-year member of the I.B.E.W. and retired from New River Electrical Corporation in 1987. Special thanks to the VVCC Salem and to the doctors, nurses and other staff who have provided excellent care over the last six weeks. Also, to Medi Home Health & Hospice and Home Instead staffs, and our friends and family members for their care and support over the past several months. Your compassion and care are greatly appreciated. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Palmer officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. on June 26, 2018.3
