Robert Lavan Gibson Robert (Bob) Lavan Gibson, 83, of Roanoke, was reunited with his loving wife, Virginia Garrett Gibson, in the presence of the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Dorothy Gearheart Gibson; son, Richard A. Gibson; sister, Christine Wade Smith; and brother, James L. Gibson. Bob was a gentle and loving man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand or a caring ear to anyone who needed them. His calling in life was as a salesman, enjoying a fruitful career with Moore's until retiring as Senior Buyer with great respect. After retirement, he appreciated time spent on extended visits to New Smyrna Beach, Fla., with family. He never met a stranger. He loved the Lord, serving and worshipping for many years at Green Hill Church of the Brethren in Salem where he and Ginny raised their family spiritually. Later in life they were members of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. Bob's calling was sales, love was with the Lord, but his passion was his family, to whom he served as the glue that tied them all together. He adored his wife and their four children, their grandkids, and great-grandkids. Left to cherish his memories are his three remaining children, Rodney Gibson, Russell Gibson, and Amy Gibson Tuck of Roanoke; his sister, Audrey Weaver of Salem; his grandchildren, Joshua Cunningham (Ashley) of Vinton, Shannen Tressel (Paul) of Botetourt, Julie Tuck (Justin) of Moneta, Jason Tuck (Jenny) of Lakewood, Colo., Michael Gibson (Shannon) of Roanoke, Christine Gibson of Roanoke, Adrienne Tuck of Roanoke, Allison Damiano (Sam) of Blacksburg; his great-grandchildren, Megan, Austin, Ethan, Dylan, Cally, and Corey; his beloved friend, Shirley Roop; and his four-legged best friend, Daisy.4 He was born on May 8, 1932 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.3 He married Virginia Faye Garrett on December 30, 1950 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.2 Robert Lavan Gibson died on January 4, 2016 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 83.4
