Williams on September 5, 1946 at Troy, Doniphan Co., Kansas.1 Garrell Iddings died on September 10, 2002 at South Hampton Place, Columbia, Boone Co., Missouri, at age 80.4,1 He Garrell Iddings taught his children the value of honesty and hard work through example. A lover of the outdoors, the longtime Columbia resident taught his son to hunt, stressing responsibility and that there is a right way to do stuff, his son said. Mr. Iddings died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at South Hampton Place in Columbia. He was 80. Mr. Iddings was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Pattonsburg to Eddie A. and N. S. Squire Iddings. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 280, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and the American Legion. Mr. Iddings married Delores E. Williams on Sept. 5, 1946, in Troy, Kan. She died earlier. His daughter, Dena Winingear of Columbia, described Mr. Iddings as a good father, a good provider. He was an honest, caring, meticulous man who always wanted to do the right thing, she said. People knew Mr. Iddings for his integrity, she said: He never borrowed in his life, and he always paid in cash. Everyone that he ever knew in his life got a Christmas letter from him, said his son, Randall A Iddings of Columbia. He never forgot a birthday. Mr. Iddings was highly dedicated to his work, his daughter said. I dont think he ever missed a day of work, she said, adding that when he wasnt at work he was working on the house. He didnt take anything for granted, Mrs. Winingear said. He told his young children not to leave on the lights and not to run too much bath water. He would stand by you, but yet let you know when you were going wrong, too, his daughter said. He was just a perfect person. Visitation for Mr. Iddings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Don Snyder, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Iddings is survived by his son; his daughter; his brother, G.A. Iddings of Coffey; his sisters Billie B. Amar of Independence and Iris Wanda Bliss of Olathe, Kan; and five grandchildren, Tanner Rinehart, Codi Rinehart, Stevie Winingear, William Winingear and Mariah Winingear. His parents, his wife and his daughter Denise Rinehart died earlier. Memorials may be sent to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 280, 1509 Ashley St., Columbia, Mo., 65201. on September 12, 2002.1
