Shilling, Jr. of Vinton; one granddaughter, Cammie Weeks and her husband, Ken of Thaxton; one grandson, Keith White and his wife, Sherry of Stewartsville; four great-grandchildren, Cody, Casey, Stacy Ray, and Kylee; four sisters, Vincie Carter of Salem, Edna Meadows of Vinton, Mildred Ayers, and Virginia Likens both of Roanoke; one brother-in-law, Gordon Wray; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his childhood friend and "adopted" brother, Cleatus Beckner and his wife, Lanie. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Irvin W. Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Eva Furrow; brother, Sherman Furrow, Jr; brothers-in -law, Paul Thurman and Paul Waldrop. Franklin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. There was nothing more important to him than his family. He was a member of the Redwood United Methodist Church and a proud veteran, having served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army. Left to cherish his memory and share his everlasting love is his wife of 53 years, Dalphia C. Furrow; sons and wives, Greg and Jannie Furrow, of Ferrum, Rodney and Sandy Furrow, of Roanoke. He is also survived by brothers and wives, Percy and Belvie Furrow, of Rocky Mount, Wayne and Poppy Furrow, of Charlottesville; sisters and husbands, Clara and Richard Eanes, of Rocky Mount and Lois and Shirley Campbell, of Redwood and twin sister, Francis Waldrop, of Ft. Bragg; sisters-in-law, Margaret Thurman and Linda Waybright; grandchildren, Ryan Furrow, Courtney Perdue, Chelsea Furrow, Storm Furrow and Jake Furrow; great-grandchildren, Justin Lutz and Taylor Furrow. Franklin also leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, friends, church family, too numerous to mention, that were very dear to his heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redwood United Methodist Church, 3001 Old Franklin Turnpike, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be conducted from Redwood United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 with the Rev. Bradley S. Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military honors presented by American Legion Post 6. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 with his family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, Rocky Mount, 540-483-3835 and other times at their home. on June 28, 2010.3

Percy was born on March 7, 1942, to the late Sherman Alvin Furrow and Eva Wimmer Furrow Guilliams. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Belvie Hall Furrow; and two brothers, Franklin "Bud" Furrow and Sherman Alvin Furrow Jr. Percy lived his life for the Lord and worked hard for his family. He had one son, Michael Shannon (Chelsea Boyd) Furrow; and two daughters, Wanda Gail Shively and Marcella Renee Ledbetter. There was no doubt he loved his grandchildren, Joseph Washburn, Amanda (Joey) Smith, Tiffany Furrow, Joshua "Bo" Ledbetter, Antoinette "Toine" Shively, Brandon Furrow, Quintin Shively, and Michaela Furrow; one very special great-grandchild, Brayden Smith. Percy had sisters who he cherished, Clara (Richard) Eanes, Frances "Sis" Waldrop, Lois (Shirley) Campbell; one brother, Wayne (Poppy) Furrow; also a very special pet "Lucy". Percy was a hard working man who served his community as a mechanic. He had a heart of gold, and a voice of steel. He was a long time member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church, where his church family became his own. Funeral Services will be conducted from Furnace Creek Baptist Church 11 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012, with the Rev. Mike Lawhorn and the Rev. Ronald Coleman officiating. He will be laid to rest with his loving wife in the Hall Family Cemetery in Ferrum. A fellowship meal will be served at the church for family and friends following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Furnace Creek Baptist Church, 975 Scuffling Hill Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
