Funeral rites were conducted from his home, Wednesday afternoon for Lester Kelley of Paynes Creek vicinity, who died suddenly while walking on the street in Roanoke, Monday afternoon, May 18th. He had suffered from an heart ailment for some months; with Rufus Moran, a neighbor, Kelley had gone to Roanoke to carry a load of wool, leaving home about 6 A.M. As he was walking with Mr. Moran about 2 P.M. he suddenly sank to the pavement, dying before he could be taken to a hospital. He is survived by his parents, a brother, Cecil of West Va., Beatrice, Hazel and Mrs. Thomas Yeatts. on May 21, 1942.⁹
