Born July 19, 1937, in Bassett, he was a son of the late Jesse Carl Foster and Beatrice Lura Poff Foster. Also preceding him in death were his sister, Frances Louise Foster and a brother, Lynwood C. Foster. He retired from J.D. Bassett Mfg. Company after 40 years of service. He was a graduate of Bassett High School, a member of Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church, the VMI Keydet Club, was a former member of Bassett Kiwanis Club and Ducks Unlimited, and served in the Virginia National Guard. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Anne Miles Foster; daughter, Anne Foster Sebastian and son-in-law, Gregory Allen Sebastian of Burlington, N.C; son, Chad Douglas Foster and daughter-in-law, Susan Cosby Foster of Fairfax; granddaughter, Taylor Paige Sebastian of Burlington, N.C; and brother, Wildon C. Foster of Bassett. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bassett Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. A native of Martinsville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Almeda Vernice Wood and James Otha Poff. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette Sue Daughtery Poff. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961. Marvin was a member of the Hyattsville, Maryland Lion's Club in which he served as secretary. He was also in the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Icenhower and her husband, Tim of Kernersville; son, Stephen P. Poff; grandchildren Griffin, Bryson and Caiman; nephew, Jim Arnold and his wife, Brandy of Collinsville, VA, and their children: Jake, Maggie and Carson; and sisters, Janice Miller and her husband, Henry of Tazwell, VA, and Nancy Arnold and her husband, David of Elkin, NC. The family will receive friends at the Church from 5 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, until time for a Rosary to be prayed at 6 p.m. on March 20, 2010.²

She was a homemaker and member of St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Bedford and a graduate of Shawswick High School. Surviving with her husband are one daughter, Kimberly Anne Poff; one son, Stephen Patrick Poff; three sisters; Mary Cassidy, Anna Mae Henderson and Betty Lou Barlow, all of Bedford; two brothers: Wayne Daugherty and David Daugherty, both of Bedford; and 22 nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. on June 29, 1994.²

     Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster was born circa 1908 at Henry Co., Virginia.² He married Esther Mae Poff, daughter of James Ira Poff and Lucy Gay King, on September 20, 1930 at Henry Co., Virginia.^1,2 Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster and Esther Mae Poff were divorced in October, 1936 at Henry Co., Virginia.³ Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster died before 1945.⁴

     Leona Farmer Young Leona Farmer Young Poff, born January 5, 1920, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She was able to celebrate her 101st birthday with her family. She was the last surviving daughter of the late Jesse and Lura Young of Ferrum. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, William P. "Bill" Poff; brothers and sisters, Ruth (Russell) Joyce, Myrtle (Bill) McGee, Wayne (Fannie Jane) Young, Bernice (Letcher) Mullins, Hildreth Young, Frances (Stafford) Witt, Dennis (Mildred) Young, and Navie Young. Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. She will be greatly missed by her very special great niece Lindsey Gayle and dog Frehley. Special thanks to her care giver Charles Young. Wylene Gay Mullins was born on March 30, 1940 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^3,7,6 As of July 22, 1972,her married name was Peters.³ She married Elmer Otey Peters on July 22, 1972 at Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co., Virginia.^1,3 Wylene Gay Mullins died on September 23, 2013 at Powhatan Co., Virginia, at age 73.^5,8 She PETERS, Wylene Mullins, 73, of Powhatan, died September 23, 2013. She is survived by her children, Pamela S. West, Gary L. Shively and Tiffany P. O'Neill, all of Powhatan;brother, Melvin G. Mullins of Boones Mill; sister, Carolyn M. Hartwick of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Aaron and Hunter West, Hannah and Sarah Shively, and Victoria O'Neill. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda S. Grady. Graveside services will be held in the Mattoax Cemetery, Amelia. on September 25, 2013.⁵

     Glenn Eugene Shively and Wylene Gay Mullins were divorced.¹ Glenn Eugene Shively married Wylene Gay Mullins, daughter of Gary Elwood Mullins and Mary Elizabeth Poff.⁴ Glenn Eugene Shively was buried at Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 260 Henry Road, Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.² He Glenn E. Shively (Beloved Father), 81 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Shively; daughter, Rhonda Shively; and parents, Danny and Iris Hale Shively. He is survived by his children, Pamela West and husband Tommy, Gary Shively; step-children, Randy Renick and Coy Lee Renick; grandchildren, Aaron West, Hunter West, Hannah Shively, Sarah Shively; and sister, Joyce Bowling. Glenn retired from Fieldcrest Mills with many years of service. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.² He was born on July 24, 1936 at Franklin Co., Virginia.³ He died on January 24, 2018 at Virginia at age 81.²
