Born March 27, 1918 at Flat Top, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Ada Florence McBride Harvey. Jack lived at Flat Top for many years prior to moving to Princeton. Mr. Harvey previously worked for Paramount Pacific out of California, Anderson & Anderson Contractors Inc. of Princeton, and was County Supervisor and worked for the Mercer County Department of Highways for many years. He served in Company C of the 19th Infantry 24th Division of the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal of World War II and the Occupation of Japan Medal. Mr. Harvey also served in the CC Camp, Camp Watoaga. Mr. Harvey was a member of the Concord Masonic Lodge No. 48 in Athens for over 54 years and had received his 50 year pin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Russell Harvey; second wife, Allie Conner Harvey; a daughter, Ada Ellen Cox; along with two brothers, Clifton “C .J.” Harvey and Bill Harvey. Mr. Harvey was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord with all his heart. Jack is survived by a special long time friend and caregiver, Florence White; two daughters, Doris Dickerson and husband, Junior of Princeton and Jackie Matherly and husband, Edsel of Flat Top; two sons, Donald Harvey and wife, Bonnie of Pulaski, Va., and Doff Harvey and wife, Debbie of Princeton; stepdaughter, Lynne Murray and husband, Mike of Charleston, S.C; two brothers, Cyrus Harvey and wife, Kathleen of Ghent and Rev. Orville Harvey and wife, Alma of Princeton. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Shelby Capps, David Moye, Chad Harvey, Larry J. Harvey, Eddie Matherly, Amanda Collins, Lisa Cox and Michael Harvey. Two step-grandchildren, Erie Murray and Brenda Smith. He had ll greatgrandchildren, Greg and Heather Capps, Stephen and Tyler Stump, Jordan Moye, Lucas Noah, Eden Grace, Katie Smith, Beth Harvey, Chris Harvey and Reeve Collins; along with special “adopted” daughter, Kitty Dickerson. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Concord Masonic Lodge No. 48 of Athens and will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Moye, Chad Harvey, Kevin , Chris Barr, Jimmy Williams and Jackie Parson. on July 19, 2004.10

     Anthony Kent Stephens Anthony Kent Stephens, 64, of Springville, VA left this life to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. He was born to the late Kent Jewell Stephens and late Alma Conner Stephens in Bluefield, WV on December 11, 1950. Anthony was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ and attended Springville Christian Church. He was a 37 year employee of Flowers Baking Company. He was retired from Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Upon retirement Anthony volunteered his time at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He also dedicated his life to ensuring history would be preserved for future generations through his work with the Tazewell County Historical Society. Anthony was the current Vice President but served in many capacities for the Tazewell County Historical Society throughout the years. He loved spending his time performing genealogical research and coordinating various family reunions. Anthony was loved by and will be greatly missed by his friends from BRMC and TCHS. Anthony married Cora Frances Faulkner on May 29, 1970. In addition to his wife Cora he is survived by his son Shannon Stephens and wife Cheryl Roberts-Stephens of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter Michelle Baker and husband Mike Baker of Tazewell, VA and 5 grandchildren; Andrew “Andy” Baker, Ethan Baker, Lexie Baker, Jessamyn Stephens and Victoria Stephens. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be John Collins, Glen Dale Blankenship III, George Faulkner, Austin Faulkner, Andy Baker and Ethan Baker.
