Born in Floyd County, Va., she was the last surviving child of the late Victoria and Melvin Gearhart. An orphan at nine months of age, Evelene was reared by foster parents, Annie and Zack Conner of Copper Hill, Va., who preceded her in death. She retired from Double Envelope Corporation at 67 years of age with more than thirty years of service. A member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Salem, she was a dedicated member of the Wesley Sunday School class and a member of the Lighthouse, a group who enjoyed weekly visitation with shut-ins. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener, sharing the bountiful crop with family, friends and neighbors. A wonderful cook, she delighted in taking her famous coconut pies to church and family gatherings. She will be remembered as a warm and loving lady, a kind and gentle mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Alvis C. Carr; her second husband, John T. Short; two brothers, Casper and Roy Gearhart; and one sister, Eileen Gearhart Price. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Iless and Leonard Gisiner, Jr., Vinton, Shelby and Edgar Hodges, Daleville; four grandchildren, L.W. "Len" Gisiner III and his wife, Sandra, Goodview, Laureen Gisiner Hamilton and husband, Brian, Hardy, Gil W. Hodges, Richmond, Ginger Hodges Yopp and husband, DeWayne, Vinton; three greatgrandchildren, Courtney and J.T. Gisiner and Nicholas Hamilton. A number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family is deeply grateful to all the people at Springtree Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and kindness shown during our mother's illness. Our gratitude is also extended to Adventa Hospice. on September 25, 2005.1

Born December 13, 1915 at Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Martin Dishner and Ada Wolfe Dishner. Mrs. Gearhart was a homemaker and a member of the Wright Mountain Independent Baptist Church at Rock. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved the Lord and was a prayer warrior. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Casper "Cap" Gearhart in 1971; three sons, Gene Gearhart, Melvin Gearhart and Gerald Gearhart; five sisters, Margaret DeBoard, Minnie Dishner, Ollie Cline, Amon McIntosh and Annie Wells; and six brothers, Robert Jeff Dishner, Luther Lee Dishner, Walter Harding Dishner, Raymond Mason Dishner, Roy Dishner and Fred Nelson Dishner. Survivors include two daughters, Evelene Horne of Rock and Joy Garten of Roanoke, Va; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Wright Mountain Independent Baptist Church at Rock with the Rev. William Wyrick and the Rev. Larry Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery at Rock. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wright Mountain Independent Baptist Church, 1922 Wright Mountain Rd., Rock, WV 24747. The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. on March 18, 2013.3

Stepgrandchildren, B. J. and wife Connie Chafin, Matthew Chafin, stepgreat-grandchild, Drew Chafin. She was a member of the Huffville United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Huffville United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Walker and Pastor Elbert Lee Naff officiating. Interment will follow in the Huffville Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Horne Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Floyd County Rescue Squad, Station 3 at Locust Grove, P. O. Box 33, Floyd, VA 24091. The Wimmer family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg. (382-2612) on March 12, 2003.2
