She retired from the Oak Ridge Atomic Energy Laboratory. She is survived by: her sister, Ruth Simpson Patton of Whitesburg; one sister-in-law, Ruby Simpson of Greeneville; lifetime friend, Eva Russell of Whitesburg; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will beat the Bethesda Cemetery. Active pallbearers: John Roberts, Roe Eldridge, Clifford Sopshier, Mac Cook, William Roberts, Buddy Stiner, Alex Stiner, Joshua Stiner and Eric Stiner. Surviving are her sons, Michael Amos Wade Jr. of Rome, Ga., and William Maynard Wade of Logansport, Ind; daughters, Patricia Annette Wade Henard of Weatherford, Texas, Sarah Elizabeth Wade Keller of White Hall, Md., Gwendolyn Joyce Wade Scaldaferri of Colesville, Md., and Charleen Ann Wade Kreamer of Severn, Md; sister, Gracie Evelyn Stout of Chattanooga, Tenn; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Amos Wade and her son, Samuel Edward Wade. Interment was in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge. on March 30, 2004.1

She was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church Choir; a former member of the National Hairdressers Association; an avid gardener; and lover of music. Katherine was the widow of William H. "Sam" Link and was preceded in death by her parents, Brainard H. and Olivia Stewart Basham; and her brothers and sisters, Minnie B. Light, Thelma B. Charlton, Beulah B. Brammer, Earl Basham and Gene Basham. She is survived by her sister, Mary B. Epperly, of Floyd, Va; sister-in-law, Lois Basham, of Christiansburg, Va; a number of nieces and nephews including a special nephew and his wife, Gerald and Linda Basham, of Troutville; and god son, Dr. C. Hunter Baker, of Boston, Mass. Services will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park in the Abby Chapel. on December 30, 2011.5
