She was a retired elementary school Librarian. She is survived by her husband, Vernon B. Garvin, Hurt; two sons, Vernon B. Garvin III, Bassett, Dale Lee Garvin, Danville; two sisters, Effie Lawrence, King Ferry, N.Y., Alice Lawrence, Roanoke; one brother, Harvey Conner, Floyd; two grandchildren, Christina Garvin, Mary Garvin; two stepgrandchildren, Angela Townsend, Dorothy Calaman; and one stepgreat-grandson, Johnathan Townsend. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery.
