He has joined his beloved son, Leslie. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Claude & Claudine Conner, father and mother in-law, Alvis & Sylvia Conner; and brother in-law B.G. Conner. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rushie C. Conner; his wonderful family, sons, Glenn (Sue), Calvin (Barbara), Randy (Melissa); and daughter in-law, Shawn Conner; his eight grandchildren, Sabrina (Levi), Allen ( Eleshia), Bradley (Melissa), Katrina (Josh), Dustin (Shawna), Victoria, Lauren, Blake (Fiancée Vanessa); six great-grandchildren; his brother, David Conner; and sisters, Joyce Poff, Gracie Smith (Charles), Donnie Wood (Doug), Weeta Small (Dick), and Jeanette Simmons (Bob). Benny enjoyed helping others and impacted many. He was loving, generous, kind, and humble. He always put others first and was loved dearly by all who knew him. Benny is an Honorary member of the Locust Grove Fire Dept. (Station 3). Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. on October 13, 2018.10

Vest, of Floyd county, died instantly early Saturday night from injuries received when his automobile crashed into the Back Creek bridge, on the Roanoke-Floyd highway. Dr. Russell B. Smiley, Roanoke county coroner, said Vest was pinned in the vehicle by the impact and died from a lacerated brain and crushed chest. A wrecker was summoned from Roanoke to free him from the demolished automobile. The body was removed to a Roanoke funeral home and later was taken to Floyd. Relatives of Vest said he was discharged from the navy three months ago after 15 months' service, and had attended a birthday party in the Back Creek section before the accident occurred. Interment was to be in Wilson cemetery. Survivors, besides his parents, three sisters: Mrs. Bonnie Willis, of Pilot; Mrs. Ruby Foster, Shawsville, and Mrs. Iva Vest Sowder, Pilot; and three brothers: Truman Vest, Salem, and Hampton and Gratton Vest, of Floyd. His grandfather, Charles W. Vest, is treasurer of Floyd county. on November 4, 1946.10
