Peter Riley "Riley" Blackard was buried at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5601 Liberty Road, Pleasant Garden, Guilford Co., North Carolina.1 He Peter Riley Blackard and Amanda Blackard were farmers and share croppers in Patrick Co. They lived first on Thomas Blackard's farm, then moved to Will Trimble's Clarks farm, then to Tom Shelton's farm near the Mayo River. They moved to a second Clark farm, then to Dickeron and Goode Shelton's farm and finally to the Joyce farm. They then moved to the State of North Carolina, to Job's farm in Julian, North Carolina, to Wade's farm, to Fogleman's farm, and last to Garrett's farm in Julian. Their children were very upset when the move away from the State of Virginia was made.1 His Social Security Number was 246-56-9851.4 He In 1915 Riley was an avid baseball player and a member of the Big A Baseball Team of Patrick Springs, Patrick Co., Virginia. Sometime in the 1920's Peter Reilly Blackard, moved to North Carolina and settled in Alamance Co., North Carolina tending tobacco farmland for the Fogleman family. Residences: Mt Hope Church Rd. and Wade Store Rd. Riley and family later moved to Julian on land subdivided from an old game hunters reserve called the Bob White Plantation, bob white being a hunter's name for the quail. Riley and oldest son, Brooks, bought farms there and Riley lived in the old Coble house. Brooks farm adjoined Riley's. Walter Garrett ran the Bob White Plantation and later Riley bought the Garrett house on a hill top in Julian. Alton rented the farm from Riley at this time and later bought it. Reilly's wife Amanda died of cancer. He had 13 children in all by Amanda, two not living to adulthood. He had no children by Nannie Rodgers. Alton Clyde Jr and Brooks took over the family farm in Juliian and Andrew bought an adjoining farm in 1946. Tom, Aaron, John, and Andrew all served in WWII. After the war they all move to Martinsville, Virginia and joined brother Benton as cab drivers. Andrew moved back to the country in North Carolina to farm but the other 3 brothers stayed.
