Lawrence died at his home at 1 o'clock this morning after a lingering illness of paralysis of the throat, superinduced by the effects of an accident some years ago. He was 56 years of age and had long been one of Hinton's well known business men, being the senior member of the firm of the Hinton Construction Co. He leaves a wife, but no children. Also one brother, Harrison Lawrence, and three sisters Mrs. E. H. Davis, of Brooklin, and Mrs. Henry Glass and Mrs. N. D. Seldomridge, of Hinton. Burial will follow in Hill Top cemetery. Deceased was a Mason, and an excellent citizen. on May 31, 1923.5

Light, of Hinton; M. G. light, Marie, and three step-sons, H. G. and D. B. Light, both of Marie, and W. M. Light, of Hinton. Funeral services in charge of Foster Undertakers, were incomplete last night. on June 29, 1934.8

Light died at 3:45 Monday at his home after a two year illness. A retired engine carpenter for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, he worked at Hinton for 13 years before coming to Beckley in 1920. He was a member of the veteran C & O Employees Association and Modern Woodman Camp 15175 of Beckley. Born at Marie, on Feb 10, 1883, he served as a deacon of the First Baptist Church for 40 years, and was a deacon emeritus for the past four years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lydia Light, of Beckley; four daughters, Mrs. Perry O'Dell, of Beckley, Mrs. Charles Bergendahl, Mount Hope, Mrs. James Rothwell, of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Leonard Prater of Dayton, Ohio; one son, Elvyn, of Beckley; one brother, N. G. Light, of Alderson; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Vest of Mabscott, and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers include Paul Hinzman, W. T. Lowe, James Patton, R. S. Taylor, Lyle Christian, Earl Hall, A. L. Cole, and Philip Stover. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. on December 29, 1959.2

(Moses) Light, of Mabscott, Raleigh county, 70-year-old retired carpenter for the C&O railroad, died Sunday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C. H. Bush, 1523 1/2 Seventh Av., Charleston. He was a member of railway's carpenter force for 36 years until his retirement four years ago. He was a native of Floyd county, Virginia, and a member of the First Baptist church of Beckley. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Alice Light; a son, W. K. of the coast guard In Norfolk; two other daughters, Mrs. A. F. Horndoff of Charleston and Mrs. Curtis Weatherman of North Carolina; three brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. on February 16, 1948.3

     Elias Jackson Light was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Ballengee, Summers Co., West Virginia.4,2,7 He was born on June 1, 1879 at Summers Co., West Virginia; The death certificate has a birth date of Jun 1, 1878. This is probably off by one year.4,1 He married Ada Mary Hedrick on December 24, 1902 at Summers Co., West Virginia.8,9,10 Elias Jackson Light died on October 16, 1936 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 57.4,2 He Elias J. Light died at his home on Ballengee street, Hinton, about 8 o'clock, Friday night, October 16, 1936, aged 58 years. Mr. Light was paralyzed in the early part of 1935 and had been in a feeble condition and unable to work since that time. A few weeks ago he suffered the second stroke of paralysis and until the end his case was regarded as hopeless. Mr. Light was a son of the late James and Olivet Light and was born near Marie. He spent all of his life as a citizen of Summers county. For 12 years previous to his last illness, he had been an efficient and faithful employe of the New River Grocery Co. of this city. Mr. Light was a member of the local Methodist church and the Every Man's Bible class of the church and until his death prevented was loyal in his attendance at the church and Sunday school services. He was a good man, enjoying the cordial respect and friendship of all who knew him. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Miss Willie Light and Mrs. W. P. Scott, one son, James Hedrick Light. The following sisters and brothers survive: Mrs. Arthur Vest, of Mabscott; Mrs. Annie Simmons of Beckley; M. B. Light, of Mabscott; F. F. Light, of Beckley; N. G. Light, of Marie, and two half brothers, W. M. Light, of this city, and D. B. Light, of Marie. Remains were then taken to the Oak Grove cemetery at Ballengee for burial. on October 21, 1936.2
