C. and Peggy Wimmer of Check; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Glenn Gallimore of Rocky Mount, Sarah and Larry King of Cloverdale, and Karen and Gerald Moran of Copper Hill; grandchildren, Richie and Michael Gallimore, Travis and Jennifer Wimmer, J. W. and Crista King, and Jason Moran; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alger and Muriel Holt of Callaway, Bill and Margaret Holt of Boones Mill, Maurice and Jane Holt of Callaway, and Sammy and Joice Holt of Bent Mountain; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and the late Rudolph Meador of Mechanicsville, Stella and Rev. Funeral services will be at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999. The Rev. Dale Bowman, The Revs. Enos and Edith Griffith will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. on March 11, 1999.3

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Center United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Dr. Steve Pillsbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Mrs. Wimmer was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Davidson County to John Claude Lanier and Husie Hinkle Lanier. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jody Wimmer; three brothers, Joe Lanier, Bobby Lanier and J.C. Lanier; and one sister, Louise Hiatt.      Howard Moyer Thompson Howard Thompson, 92, of Bent Mountain, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2022, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosa Thompson; sister, Betty McCoy; and brothers, Marvin, Robert, Lewis, and Dalton. He was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone. Howard was truly an inspiration to everyone. He fought the good fight and kept the faith. He loved his family, the Lord, and his church. He was a faithful member of Mount Union Church of the Brethren where he served many years as a deacon. Howard was an outside person, loved nature, raising cattle, vegetables, and apples, and working a full-time job. He was a caring and loving husband, dad, grandfather, son, and brother. Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 70 years, Christine; daughter, Carolyn (Steve); son, Charles (Cyndi); granddaughter, Brooke; grandsons, Stephen, Jason, and Samuel; five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at Cooper Hill Cemetery.4 He was buried at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 8838 Floyd Hwy N.      Lester Ray Kelley was buried at Moran-Agee Cemetery, about mile post 150, Blue Ridge Parkway, Floyd Co., Virginia.4,5 He was born on August 17, 1914 at Floyd Co., Virginia.5 He died on May 18, 1942 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 27.6 He Lester Kelley Died Suddenly. Funeral rites were conducted from his home, Wednesday afternoon for Lester Kelley of Paynes Creek vicinity, who died suddenly while walking on the street in Roanoke, Monday afternoon, May 18th. He had suffered from an heart ailment for some months; with Rufus Moran, a neighbor, Kelley had gone to Roanoke to carry a load of wool, leaving home about 6 A.M. As he was walking with Mr. Moran about 2 P.M. he suddenly sank to the pavement, dying before he could be taken to a hospital. His body was removed to a Roanoke undertaking establishment, and from there brought to Maberry's Funeral Home. He is survived by his parents, a brother, Cecil of West Va., Beatrice, Hazel and Mrs. Thomas Yeatts. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Willie Vest and Elder Archie Naff. on May 21, 1942.6
