He was born on September 7, 1923, at Bland, Va., the son of the late Luther Clyde and Clara Conner Faulkner. In addition to parents, he was also preceded by three brothers, Archie, Walter and Earl C. Faulkner. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 272 Infantry Division in France, Belgium and Germany. He earned a Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star and was a member of the Bland VFW Post #7969. He is survived by his wife, Mamie Ruth Wright Faulkner; one daughter, Ella Jean Blankenship and husband, Tom, of Alexandria; four sons, Keith Faulkner and Peggy Wright, Steve Faulkner and wife, Darlene, Ricky Faulkner, and Randy Faulkner and wife, Libby, all of Bland; one brother, C.L. Faulkner, of Bland; three sisters, Mary Trump, of Christiansburg, Martha Shewey, of Bland, and Nancy Parks, of Pulaski; eight grandchildren, Thomas and Kristol Blankenship, Sherri McMillian, Adam, Brian, Brandon, Robert and Shawn Faulkner; and five greatgrandchildren, Orion and Ean McMillan, Emma Rose Faulkner, Riley Patrick Dudley, and Cayden Thomas Blankenship. Military Graveside Rites will be given by the Bland VFW Post #7969 at Shiloh Cemetery, Hollybrook. on April 15, 2009.¹

She was born in Bland County, Va., on June 7, 1933, to the late Clyde Luther and Clara Conner Faulkner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Trump Sr; brothers, Walter, Wade, and Earl Faulkner; and sister, Nancy Parks. She was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Mary was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and later attended Park United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Leo Nester, Martha and Mike Akers; son, James Trump Jr; grandchildren, Christie, Matt, Jamie, Marissa, Shannon, Mickey, Mark, and Leo Jr; 13 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Martha Harper; brother, C. L. Faulkner; special friends, Shelby Quesenberry and Diana Trump. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Betty Akers and Jean Wright. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. on November 15, 2022.⁵

A graveside service was held at the Morning Star Cemetery in Bland. He was a member of the Bland Community Church where he served as pastor for over 10 years. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation and was an avid hunter and trapper. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Kate Hoback Shewey; and a brother, Stafford D. Shewey. Survivors include his wife, Martha Faulkner Shewey of Bland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Shewey of Bland, and Luther and Jamie Shewey of Bristol, Tenn; five grandchildren, Latrayle Tyree of Pennsylvania, Megan Cox of Bristol, Tenn., Kellen Shewey of Kingsport, Tenn., Sherri Dillow of Bland and Martha "Kathy" Shewey of Bluefield; eight great-grandchildren; a special friend, Bill Walters of Roanoke; and many nieces, nephews, friends and church family. on December 3, 2011.²

     Harold Thomas "Tom" Blankenship Jr. was buried at Shiloh Cemetery, Holly Brook, Bland Co., Virginia.⁵ He was born on December 2, 1943 at Marion, Smyth Co., Virginia.^2,3,4,5 He married Ella Jean Faulkner, daughter of Robert Wade Faulkner and Mamie Ruth Wright, on August 20, 1966 at Bland Co., Virginia.^1,2,4 Harold Thomas "Tom" Blankenship Jr. died on April 11, 2020 at Virginia at age 76.^4,5 He Harold Thomas Blankenship Jr., 76, of Alexandria, Va. and Mechanicsburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was born at Marion, Va, on December 2, 1943, the son of the late Harold Thomas Sr., and Elizabeth Wymer Blankenship. He was actively involved in two churches within the communities he lived. He was proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where he received his Bachelor's degree, Kennesaw State University, where he received his Master's Degree and NOVA Southeastern University, where he earned his doctorate. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era. He belonged to numerous professional and engineering organizations and served his community through the Bland American Legion Post # 20, Kazim Temple and Bland Masonic Lodge, Post # 206. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad and was employed by the Federal Railroad Association through the United States Government. He especially enjoyed his farm in Bland County. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Ella Jean Faulkner Blankenship; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristol Blankenship and Mark Dudley, Roanoke; his son, Harold "Tom" Blankenship III; his grandchildren, Riley Dudley, Aniline Dudley and Cayden Blankenship; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Blankenship, Pulaski; his sisters and brother-in-law, Rebecca ("Mickey") and Kenneth Brim, Christiansburg, and Michelle Blankenship, Bland; his mother-in-law, Mamie Faulkner; his special pet companions, "Sunshine" and "Elmo"; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. Following strictly the mandated assembly restrictions, there will be no public services at this time. on April 16, 2020.⁴
