Throughout his 22 year career, he worked mostly with munitions, but the last 6 years were spent as a First Sergeant, proudly touching many lives and making good men into great soldiers. After retiring in 1966, he took up real estate and spent time with his family. In his spare time, he wrote numerous letters to Presidents, Congress, and State Legislatures, in hopes of making a difference. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Mary E. Mills; his daughter, Reese Mills of Destin, Fla; son, Michael (Linda) Mills, of Saint Cloud, Fla; grandchildren, April (Tim) Chapel, of Crestview, Fla., Brandon Patzig of Destin, Fla., Stacey Mills of Saint Cloud, Fla; his brother, Randolph (Joyce) Mills of Fayetteville, N.C; his sisters, Blanche Foster, Hazel Naff, Nellie (Charles) Bushnell, Ellen (David) Dodson, all of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews.
