A loving husband, father and grandfather, Brother Davis was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Calvin Leon Davis and Frayne Darrell Davis; and one sister, Betty Jo Bowden. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aunita Harroun Davis of Big Sandy; his daughters and son-in-law, Janice A. Davis of Houston and Johnita E. Matkins and Edmund of Houston; his sons and daughter-in-law, Byron A. Davis of Big Sandy and Denzil A. Davis and Marsha of Houston; two granddaughters, Alwanda Moore and Ashley L. Zella McDowell is survived by her son Fayne Arthur McDowell and wife Nicola of Colorado Springs, CO, her daughter Sharon Kay Autrey and husband Kenneth of Kilgore, and son James David McDowell and wife Paula of Forney, TX. She is also survived by 9 grand children and 20 great-grand children and 17 great-great-grand children. Zella was born in Jacksboro, Texas November 6, 1925. She lived most of her 95 years here in Longview. She loved children having taught preschool for over 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greggton. He was born May 23, 1924, in Electra, to Richard Fayne and Lois Denson McDowell. He had lived in Longview for the past 45 years and was a retired water plant supervisor for the City of Longview after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Greggton First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also a graduate of Carlisle High School. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Zella of Longview; children, Fayne McDowell and his wife, Nicky of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sharon Kay Autrey and her husband, Kenneth of Kilgore, and James David McDowell and his wife, Paula of Forney; sister, Gloria Hamilton and her husband, Oscar of Tyler; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Aunita Davis of Houston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Greggton First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, May 22, 2008, at the funeral home.

     Arnita Elizabeth Geske was buried at Sand Hill Cemetery, Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas.⁶ She Services for Arnita Elizabeth Meadows of Sand Hill, were Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with Ken Loyd officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Meadows passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in Gilmer. Arnita was born June 16, 1933, in Breckenridge, TX, to Willard Howard and Pernie Floy Akers Geske. She graduated high school at East Mountain, where she was Drum Major, Football Sweetheart and also served as a Yamboree Duchess. She was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and she enjoyed spending time with her family. Arnita was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Allen C. Meadows, her parents, and a brother, Howard Geske. She is survived by her children, Melody Blanks and husband, Michael of Gilmer, Steven Meadows and wife, Shon of Deer Park; sisters, Artie Gifford of Houston, Melvina Davis of Gilmer; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Geske of White Oak; grandchildren, Braden Blanks and wife, Tae’, Justin Meadows, Kendall Meadows; and two great grandchildren, Preston and Logan Williams.⁶ She was born on June 16, 1933 at Breckenridge, Stephens Co., Texas.^1,6 As of June 11, 1952,her married name was Meadows.³ She married Allan Carroll Meadows on June 11, 1952 at Upshur Co., Texas.^6,3 Arnita Elizabeth Geske died on December 11, 2019 at Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas, at age 86.⁶
