William Orley Howard was buried at I.O.O.F. Cause of death was given as pneumonia. Mr. Howard was born Aug. 18, 1880, in Wabash County, the son of John Jacob Howard and Mary Reed Howard. He lived in Wabash County for the last 30 years and was a retired employe of tne Wabash County Highway Department. Mr. Howard's first wife was Maude Oswalt, and after her death, he married Dana Jackson in 1944. Survivors include two sons, Leo Howard and Wilbur Howard, Marion; one daughter, Mrs. Carl Widmeyer, Elwood; two brothers, Wiley, Converse, and Kenneth, LaFontaine; one sister, Mrs. Liza McGinnis, LaFontaine; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Joseph Hickey, and three stepsons, Burrett Cochran, Robert Cochran, Wabash, and Burrett Cochran, LaFontaine: 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Howard was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Robert Rowe officiating. He served in other Methodist churches in Brimfield, Milford, Pierceton, LaGrange, Greenfield, Elwood, Kokomo, Noblesville and Muncie. He served as a chaplain in World War I. He served as state chaplain of the American Legion. on April 28, 1983.6
