Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Mills.Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Torri Maxey Mills; a son, Jason Maxey and his wife, Sonia; his brother, Andy Mills and wife, Tammy; two sisters, Connie Mills, and Becky Horne and husband Curtis; step-brother, Vernon Wheeler and wife, Debbie; step-sisters, Rita Furrow and Jackie Spangler, as well as his little dogs, Susie Q, Bella and Lil Fart.A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Big Spring Baptist Church. She attended St. Petersburg High School, St Pete, FL; King College, Bristol, TN; Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Richmond VA; UNC Charlotte, Charlotte, NC. She taught at many NC institutions of learning for various levels including: William H. Owen School, Fayetteville; Aycock Middle School, Greensboro; Mendenhall Jr High, Greensboro; Coulwood Middle School, Charlotte; J.M. Alexander Middle School, Huntersville; East Lee Middle School, Sanford; UNC Charlotte; Methodist College, Fayetteville. Her intelligence and wit were evident in her writings, many of which were published. Her fun, competitive streak could be seen as she played many games with friends and family.
