     Ruby Alice Compton was buried at Jacksonville Burial Ground, Rt. 8, 0.25 miles south of Floyd, Floyd Co., Virginia.² She was born on June 14, 1925 at Floyd Co., Virginia.³ She married Marvin Harless Vest, son of James Clarence Vest and Nina Gay Burgess, circa 1942.^4,1,2 As of circa 1942,her married name was Vest.² Ruby Alice Compton died on March 14, 2013 at Virginia at age 87.² She Ruby Alice Compton Vest, of Floyd, passed from this world to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the age of 87. Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Harless Vest; her brother, Bruce Compton; her sister, Hazel Howery; and her parents, Nellie and Ward Compton. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Wanda Radford; her precious granddaughter, Amy Phillips; and her precious great-granddaughter, Taylor Phillips all of Floyd. Also, her half sisters, Louise Via (Theodore), of Floyd; Lucy McAlexander (Charlie), of Pfafftown, N.C; and stepsister, Patsy Cockram (Welby), of Floyd. Ruby was also blessed to have four sisters-in-law, Claudine Haynes (Don); Lorine Huff (David); Ina Wood (Herbert); and Christine Vest. Her family was always there for her after her husband's death, and she loved them with all her heart. In addition, she had many nieces and nephews who were a blessing to her life. Ruby also leaves behind many good friends throughout the community who she loved. She was a hard worker but was always willing to do for others. Graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Jacksonville Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Womack officiating. The Floyd Baptist Church will provide a meal for the family after the graveside service. Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to The Floyd County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 257 Floyd, VA 24091 or to Skyline Nursing and Rehab "Resident Fund" 237 Franklin Pike SE Floyd, VA 24091.      Donald Lee Haynes was buried at Jacksonville Burial Ground, Rt. 8, 0.25 miles south of Floyd, Floyd Co., Virginia.³ He Donald Lee Haynes, 88 of Floyd formerly of Woolwine, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Claudine Vest Haynes; parents, Murray C. & Allene Moran Haynes; and brother, James C. Haynes. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Anthony & Jessica Talley-Haynes; grandchildren, Alexis Hudson and Sekai Talley-LaRoche; great-grandchild, Eleanor Hudson; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Ina Wood and Lorine & David Huff; nephew, J.C. (Barbara) Haynes; and nieces, Anita (Lamont) Lancaster and Debra Cook. Graveside services will be held at in the Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Rites by the VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie L. Vest; mother, Blanch A. Martin; father, Irvin M. Martin; and one brother, Frank M. Martin. She was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. She worked for the Franklin County School System and retired from DuPont Company in Martinsville. She also enjoyed a part-time job a Cox's Fashions in Rocky Mount. Other special interest included volunteering at the Free Clinic of Franklin County and Blue Ridge Dinner Theater. "Shelby Jean" will be truly missed by many friends and family. Surviving are her two sons and daughters-inlaw, Mark L. and Alison Vest, and Greg M. and Terri Vest; one brother, Mack C. Martin; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Ann and Tommy Rutherford; five grandchildren, Megan, Taylor, Jared, Nicholas and Luke; seven nieces; 12 nephews; and a very special friend of 43 years, Joanne Brown. Funeral Services will be conducted from Furnace Creek Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011, with the Rev. Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. He was employed as Manager of Medical Services at Norfolk Southern Corporation, Norfolk. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Vest Radford, Chesapeake; daughter, Amy Cheree Radford, Floyd; mother, Delma Radford, Floyd; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Mary Radford, Roanoke; nephew, his wife and daughters, Ricky and Cindy Radford, Kayla and Amanda, Roanoke; niece, her husband and daughter, Vickie and Greg Duff, and Danielle, Hopwood, Pa; mother-in-law, Ruby Vest, Floyd. Funeral services will be 2 p .m. Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Joe Womack officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Floyd County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. on December 29, 1995.⁵
