He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lena Hudnall; a nephew, Mark Long; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Richard graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in 1964 and joined the National Guard. After serving in the National Guard, he returned home to his parent's farm and helped them run the farm and worked with his dad as a brick mason. Richard was a kind and giving person, always helping his sisters, parents, neighbors, and friends any way he could. After his parents passed away, he continued to keep the farm going and laid brick. Richard had the heart of a farmer. He farmed all of his life and he was proud of the farm and his brick jobs. He kept the land for his cows so they would have enough to eat in case there was a drought. The cows came before anyone. He was a farmer. It was his living. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan Hudnall; three sisters, Georgianna Long, Dot Divers (Barry), and Marie Murray (Paul); four nieces; three nephews; numerous great-nieces; great-nephews; a cousin, Toby McCoy; second cousins; and other relatives. A private graveside service was held for Richard with Military Honors at Evergreen Cemetery. on June 26, 2022.3
