Born Dec. 24, 1957, in Boone, N.C., he was the son of the late Ray Vaughn and Vivian Poe Greer; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Ray Greer and Bobby Lynn Greer; and a nephew, Ricky Joe Greer. Mr. Greer is survived by two brothers, Timothy Greer and Gregory Greer; one sister, Teresa Hancock; grandmother, Nettie Davis; nephews, Chris Kidd, Timothy Jason Greer, and Greg Roberts; great-nephews, Keith Brian Harris, Corey Kidd, and Justice Greer; great-nieces, Tacy Greer and Selena Kidd; a devoted sister-in-law, Theresa Jean Greer; and a devoted friend, Janet Compton. The family received friends March 9 at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel and other times at 918 Paradise Hill Road, Concord. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of the Hills, especially Denise Doss. Whitten Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Park Avenue Chapel is serving the family. on March 9, 2009.²

Born in Lynchburg, Aug. 28, 1954, he was the son of Mamie Tyree Mitchell of Lynchburg and the late Jack Nelson Mitchell. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Cunningham was a member of the Eternal Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, James Dale Harper of Benson, Ariz; three brothers, Jackie Dee Cunningham of Lynchburg, Richard Porter of Macon, Ga. and Michael A. Mitchell of Madison Heights; three sisters, Marjorie Louise Newton of South Hill, Virginia Frances Mitchell of Hopewell and Betty J. Wade of Lynchburg; one granddaughter, Sarah Harper of Benson, Ariz. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Evans family cemetery with the Rev. Carlton Dunn officiating.
