They moved to Greycliff, Mont. onto the Bob Line Place (presently the Hobble Diamond Ranch) where they resided for the next six years. They then purchased the Jack Wagner place one mile west of Reed Point, operating the ranch there until 1972, when they retired and moved to Big Timber. Sylvia and Stanley traveled with the Friendship Force to Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Germany, Japan, England and Greece. She was active in the Reed Point Library Club, Bridger Creek Club, she loved square dancing and also enjoyed going to the Hospitality House for lunch. In Sept. 2003, Sylvia moved to the Boulder Meadows Assisted Living Facility, and in 2005 she moved to the Pioneer Medical Center. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; grandsons: Glenn Whitham in 2002 and Quinn Whitham in 2003. She is survived by her four children, Bill (Betsy) of Fairbanks, Alaska, David (Mary) of Silverthorne, Colo., Ruth (Marlyn) Drange of Big Timber and Mary (Harold) Krone of Boise, Idaho, 18 grandchildren; Linda Whatley, Joseph, Daniel, Stanley, Levi and Joanne Whitham, Steve, Jeff and Chris Whitham, Georgina Shifley, Stewart and Andy Drange, Marlys Drange-Hallman, Teresa Powell, Rosie McLeod, Polly Gyger, Ben Krone and Sonja Hawk, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday Jan. 6, at the Reed Point Evangelical Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sylvia's name may be made to the Reed Point Evangelical Church or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Stenberg Funeral Home. on January 4, 2009.3

Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m. at Lowry Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Reedpoint Cemetery. on October 24, 1993.4

Her husband, Meinhart Raabe, 82, was one of the 124 Munchkins in the 1939 movie classic and one of only nine who had speaking parts. He portrayed the coroner who pronounced the Wicked Witch of the East "not only merely dead but really, most sincerely dead" after Dorothy's farmhouse landed on her. He was in good condition with a broken ankle and ribs. Mrs. Raabe and her husband, who were married 51 years, were injured near their retirement community of Penney Farms when their station wagon ran into the back of a van that had stopped to make a turn, authorities said. on October 29, 1997.10

Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Shutters was born on Nov. 10, 1919, in Akron, Ohio, and was the son of the late Edward and Jennie (Elmore) Hartline. He graduated in 1938 from Copley High School in Akron. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and served in the 82nd Airborne-325th glider infantry. Shutters rode a glider during the invasion at Normandy. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster, having been wounded in Normandy and at the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from service, Shutters met and married the former Ruth Paul on May 30, 1948, in Escanaba. Ruth preceded him in death September 2000. Shutters worked as a lab technician at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center from 1950 until his retirement in February 1979. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of the Order of the Purple Heart of Michigan Post 1879 and a member of the D.A.V. Shutters was an accomplished photographer and was well-known for the many years he spent taking pictures at all local high school sporting events. He also enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his four children, Shirley (Ken) Schepler of Beavercreek, Ohio, Ralph Hartline of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Margaret (Michael) Petrick of Iron Mountain and Robert (Katie) Hartline of Cedarburg, Wis; six grandchildren, Daniel Schepler, Andrew Schepler, Emily (Anthony) Anderson, George (Jolie) Cutchins, Chelsie Hartline and Angela Hartline; four great-grandchildren, Kalista and Maleah Anderson and Katrina and Taylor Hartline Cutchins. In addition to his parents and his wife, Shutters was preceded in death by a son, Edward in 1958 and three sisters, Marie Raabe, Frances Hamilton, and Sylvia Whitham. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tondin-Ross & Freeman Funeral Home and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Stephen Cowen will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Military graveside services will be accorded by the American Legion Post 50. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the Glider project at the Menominee Range Historical Foundation, or the Iron Mountain Scholarship Program.
