     William Farthing "Bill" Polhamus William F. Polhamus, 72, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward C. Polhamus Sr. and Jo Farthing Polhamus Smith along with a brother, Edward C. Polhamus Jr. Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Nelson Polhamus; son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Kenny; their children, Brian Otoniel, Sashiel, and Samuel; and son, Scott, all of Roanoke. Bill was raised in Newport News, Virginia. He was a 1974 graduate of Wake Forest University and received a Master of Science in engineering physics from UVA in 1976. He was employed by ITT EOPD, ITT GaAsTek, and retired from Cobham Electronics. He enjoyed hiking and was a fan of ACC football and basketball. Bill loved music, especially jazz, and played the saxophone. He enjoyed singing in the church choir at North Roanoke Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon.      Ruth Ann Huffman was buried at Reynolds Cemetery, Elkview, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.3,4 She was born on February 14, 1906 at Clendenin, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.1 As of June 8, 1927,her married name was Sutherland.1 She married Herbert Sutherland on June 8, 1927 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.1,4 Ruth Ann Huffman died on November 10, 1938 at Big Chimney, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 32.2,3,4 She Mrs. Ruth Ann Huffman Sutherland, 32, wife of Herbert Sutherland of Big Chimney, died early yesterday morning at her home at Big Chimney. Services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Big Chimney Advent Christian church, of which she was a member. Rev. J. F. Elmore and Rev. J. M. Withrow will officiate. Burial will be in Reynolds cemetery at Elkvlew with the Albert Myers and Son mortuary at Elkview in charge. The body will be removed to the residence at 3:30 p.m. today. Mrs. Sutherland attended Charleston Business college and at the time of her death was employed in the office of her father, J. (should be Z.) L. Huffman, a Justice of the peace of Elk district. Surviving besides her husband and father are her mother, and two brothers, James Huffman of Charleston and Eugene Huffman of Big Chimney. on November 11, 1938.4
