Born January 29, 1926 in Pulaski, Virginia, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison Porterfield, Sr. and Willie Maude Quesenberry Porterfield. Two sisters, Ruby Beverly and Emily Jones, also preceded him in death. Mr. Porterfield was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was retired from the Town of Pulaski with 33 years of service where he was the superintendent over the water filtration plant for the town. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Lorene Jones Porterfield, Pulaski; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Betty Jo Porterfield, Pulaski, and Harrison Thomas and Eva L. Porterfield, Pulaski; two special grandsons, Eric Lee Porterfield and Douglas Beverly; brother, John Peyton Porterfield, Dublin; and sister and brother-in-law, Marnie and Garnett Fagg, Pulaski. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements for the family.
