He loved his special four-legged friend, Daisy-Mae. James was a devoted husband, father and loving grandfather. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the hope of seeing him again in Heaven. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Hebron Quesenberry, the Rev. Jimmy Cannaday and Calvin Hawley officiating. Interment to follow in the Red Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Maberry Funeral Home, Inc. on April 17, 2012.5

He was also an avid genealogist and served as a resource for many seeking information on Southwest Virginia and was known lovingly to the Floyd Listserv as "jist ole' clyde". Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and W. Laola Maxey. He is survived by his wife of 57½ years, Velta Akers Maxey. He is also survived by his sister, Iris Maxey DeWilde, Eureka, Illinois; his four children, James (Billy) Maxey, Greely, Colorado, Wayne Maxey, Fincastle, Teresa Maxey and her husband, Michael White, Richmond, and Karen S. Bell, and her husband, Rock, Newport News; granddaughters, Kristina Maxey and fiance Jeffrey Waddell, Veronica Wright and her husband, Michael; two great-grandchildren, Kiara Bailey and Christian Wright; two nephews, John and Michael DeWilde. Burial to follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. on December 11, 2004.2

She was a member of the Eureka United Methodist church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Burial followed at Roanoke Township Cemetery. on September 15, 2005.7
