She had many special friends in her life including Vicki Jones, Missy King, Amy Marshall, Jackie Porterfield and Veronica Stump, as well as Dr. Ginger Boyle and Dr. Gary Abel and many members of the staff and administration at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. He was everyone's best friend. He was a cowboy and a golfer, and he really loved to dance and do crossword puzzles, but most of all his loved his wife, Phyllis Hardesty. He lived the last few years in Ramona with his stepdaughter Robin Ricketts and her husband, Dr. James Ricketts. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Phyllis Hardesty; her daughter Nikki Chaisson and husband Joe of Bakersfield; Robin Ricketts and husband Dr. James Ricketts of Ramona; and four granddaughters, Dana, Stephanie, Tracy and Sydney. He will be truly missed and always loved. Funeral services were in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on June 18.

She married Ralph Poff in 1957, and spent her life raising their children, and then shared her love for children with loads of kids who came and went though her at-home daycare. After Ruth retired, she enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. with family and friends. She loved her family, music, watching sports, playing cards, and spending time in the sun. Ruth was preceded into death by her husband of 51 years, Ralph B. Poff; her parents, Davis W. Cruff and Alma Toy Cruff; brothers, Raymond Cruff and Shannon Cruff; sister Mary Will (Cruff) Booth; her daughter, Ruth Virginia (Ginger) Poff, and 3 great- grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Ben Poff (Trisha), and David Poff (Deborah); her daughters, Sheila Ridgway (John), and Terri Meckes (Bryan); 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our most heartfelt thank you to the Compassionate Care Hospice staff of Akron OH. Mom was treated with kindness and respect, and her comfort was their top priority. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. on July 2, 2023.3
